- verum_auctorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A truly entertaining story of what happens when modern science enters a fantasy world. It's more grim and realistic then other stories with similar concepts (like the anime Gate), but that just makes it all the more satisfying when things go right.
I also like how it becomes kingdom building esqe. - COSMICTITANRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the chapters as the stoy is quite interesting, but at first i thought it was a sci fi novel but i was worn its a hybrid.
I like the novel but it would be better if writer use simple English so that it can be approachable b more people. - EdgarAllenWoahRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, to start this off let me say this is a good story. It's the kind you can read for hours at night and in the morning not have a stunning sense of regret when you stand in front of the fridge.
The logic is well put together, all characters have good motivations especially the evil ones. It's only story I've read on here that takes a main character with healing talent and plays it straight. The MC genuinely becomes better at healing and only healing. And mixing in modern science with the magic serves to ground it so it doesn't simply feel like we're taking his improvement on faith.
One weakness of the story is the villains. This is basically a dystopia and the villains are out to get everyone simply because it's what they do to make money and keep their status. It makes all the evil feel impersonal, and none of the villains ever have a proper personality and often they don't even have names. It's like monster of the ewes except with people.
That's not a bad thing though, since as a medical fantasy drama the real villain is disease and we have a plethora of those, and those are the only things to put sympathetic characters at risk.
Style wise the prose is solid but not totally without flourish. It's like dialog and costuming on Grey's Anatomy rather than Game of Thrones.
All said, give it a try. The book is complete and is just being revised so we know there is a proper ending in store. - Emperor ShimonianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This may not be some Harry Potter/Narnia-type level stuff. But it's just as good or even better than most of the professionally published fantasy out there. I'm really enjoying this so far.
Also, Please Genon Asch
Keep writing while you upload these already written chapters so that you have a bit of a backlog by the time the stuff you already have is uploaded.
Keep up the great work!! (this stuff makes my day a lot better) ;)
- oh and if you play on chess.com ...maybe we could play? - GalacticFISTRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first version was already good, but this rewrite has improved every single point that could be improved on! This story is a great and you should definitely try it, MC has goals and uses his knowledge in exciting ways. I eagerly awaits what's in store for Dimitry! Nice work Author!
- PuppyWolfgangRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The world building, the prose, and the magic system are all beautifully done.
Some character reactions can seem a tad artificial but nevertheless, the author has created unique characters who each feel individual. Precious is my favorite and Angelika is quickly growing on me too.
I'm very much excited for the upcoming tech uplift elements but even should we remain focused on medical modernization instead of general industrialization I'll be happy. I work in the medical field myself so seeing such familiar information and knowing how accurate it is reassures me that the author either did his research well or is in the medical field himself.
Seeing the scientific method in action when handling magic in a medieval world is exhilirating and the way the author manages to keep each moment suspenseful and gripping while adding in just the right amount of levity to prevent it from getting tiring? Fantastic. This is one of my most closely followed works as of late and I'd pay for each and every chapter if there were a Patreon.
Style: Grimdark meets Release That Witch. This novel can be absolutely frustrating because of the challenges and adversaries the main character faces, but the moments of success more than make up for it. The little moments of happiness Dimitri has wipe away the frustration of every struggle.
Grammar: an occasional typo or stilted sentence but otherwise flawless.
Characters: room for improvement as far as fluidity of interaction and emotional responses goes but still amazing. To be clear the author's characters are better written than many published novels I've read and I'd give the average entertaining story on royalroad 3 stars.
Keep up the great work author. - The_BakerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's nice to see an isekai where the main character isn't hugely overpowered or a know it all. This mc knows medical things, he isn't a walking encyclopedia on every invention known to man. Nice slow pacing hope it continues to build as it has so far. Consistent updates, not story related but important.
- abowdenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Absolutely gripping, one of the best. The re-write did it well, It was a good story before, now its a great one. Most stories on this site are posted as they are written, this story has been revised and it makes all the difference. It gets a ccross a harsh and brutal world, the mc is in constantly in terrible peril, but somehow there's always that spark of hope to keep the grimderp at bay. If you like watching people overcome adversity, you'll like this.
- apparatapparentRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A slow pace and a few stumbles don't detect from an excellent fantasy story with believable characters, consistent fantastical elements that unfold with more detail as the story progresses, and probably the most compelling part - a detailed and very realistic understanding of historical technology, processes and society that for once actually portrays some of the difficulty of using modern technologies or ideas in a historical context. Very much worth reading, top three of things I've read on royal road.
- BananaPantsPartyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Read it in one day, very engaging, 100% recommend you give this a shot! Eagerly awaiting the next volume and you should be too. The characters are very engaging, the worldbuilding is very well done, given in direct experiences, not through info dumps. No grammer or spelling mistakes I could find; if they were there, they didnt affect reading.
