Description

Dying in a car crash was not the end of Jack's problems, but only the beginning. Rather than peacefully ceasing to exist, he was recreated, one agonized atom after another, in the middle of a terrifying wilderness where saber-toothed beasts lurk behind every tree, and beasts of the bipedal kind are not much nicer.Naked and unarmed, with no claws and fangs to match his foes, he's obviously little more than a mobile snack. Or is he? Because the thing about these funny-looking bipedal apes is that they are only harmless until they pick up a sharp stick. And the real trouble begins when the long apes with sticks find friends, because as the old ape proverb says:Apes. Together. Strong.

What to expect

Updates:Chaptersweekly, if the Gods and Muses allow.

Theme:An action-survival story peppered with science-fiction chunks, that does not shy away from making the mundane of the horrific, and making horror of the mundane. A bunch of random people stranded in a fantastic primordial wilderness among prehistoric wildlife is not a walk in the park, but expect a healthy dose of HFY, Primitive Technology, humor and Grim-Bright contrasts.

Hot Sauce:This ain't a cookie-cutter, child-friendly ISEKAI story. There will be blood, gore, and violence, people being horrific to each other, people being horrific toward animals, animals being horrific to people, and possibly even plant-on-plant violence. Also, language so foul it would make a dock worker blush.

Varying chapter length:Most are about 2K - 4K+ words. Some of these words might be numbers. Math might be involved. Im sorry!Reading Level:As can be guessed, I'm not a native English speaker, so the grammar, vocabulary, syntax, and spelling will be all over the place, not helped by the fact that I took upon myself the task of approximating various rare species of vernacular from all the mutated corners of the English Language Family to make my characters more diverse. Whether that makes the story easier or harder to understand is for you to decide. Moreover, I did a ton of research to make the "science" part of the Science-Fiction in this story more plausible, and promptly discarded most of it. There might be some crumbles of quantum physics, boating lingo, and paleozoology left though, so be warned. If something is too confusing, just skip over the nerdy bits. That's what I did, and I'm the author!

Multiple POVs:Around half of the story is from the perspective of our Narrator-Protagonist, but a good chunk of it would be from heavily embellished POVs of his friends, enemies, and frenemies alike. Expect male POVs, female POVs, POVs of people from all kinds of cultures crudely filtered through Narrator's perception, and non-human POVs of improbable type and variety.DISCLAIMER:No Canadians were harmed during the production of this fiction.

I love this concept of a man dropped into a strange new land and experiencing all new animals, flora, and places. This is the case with Castaway Chronicles as our main character, Jack, a Polish man, gets dropped into a new world with no clothes or gear or tools of any kind.
He sees a unicorn straight away and other strange things including a portal that duplicate whatever you throw into it. He gets sidetracked trying to make himself a coat of some kind, and trying to start a fire. This feels like it slows the story down a bit. The opening chapter could be a tiny bit shorter and tighter too.
This story is well written and funny, with some clever twists, this is an enjoyable read. Onward!!

    Overview
Castaway Chronicles is a survival story told through the journal entries of the protagonist Jack. Thrust into an alien wilderness, with no memory of how he got there, Jack must rely on his ingenuity and resourcefulness to survive. The story combines elements of exploration, survival, and a fair bit of humor, offering a unique take on the  Portal fantasy and survival genres.
Engaging Protagonist: The protagonist is relatable and resourceful, using his skills as a builder to navigate the challenges of his new environment. His lighthearted tone and everyman perspective make him easy to root for.
Unique Narrative Style: The journal-style framing gives the story a personal and immersive feel, allowing readers to experience the protagonist’s thoughts and emotions firsthand.
Creative Problem-Solving: The protagonist’s ability to MacGyver solutions (e.g., creating a makeshift poncho, starting a fire) is both entertaining and inspiring.
Balanced Tone: The story strikes a balance between humor and survival, making it accessible and enjoyable for readers who prefer lighter, character-driven narratives.
    Recommendation
Castaway Chronicles is a great choice for readers who enjoy lighthearted survival stories with a focus on ingenuity and exploration. Fans of Robinson Crusoe, The Mysterious Island, or Journey to the Center of the Earth will likely appreciate the protagonist’s resourcefulness and the story’s unique narrative style. If you’re looking for a survival tale that balances humor with introspection, this is a story worth checking out.

overall a great book, with some minor graphical errors here and there but overall I really like it and I think it requires more attention.
and cuz a review needs to be 50 words I would like to mention that I quite like the idea of introducing the new characters the way that the author introduces them to us the reader,
