The complete series, book 1-5, are now available onAmazon.
John was a pretty easy going kind of a guy. Work from home desk job. Single dad to a precocious but overall tolerable daughter. Doing ok for himself in most ways by the standards of the old world. Then the System arrived.
The everyday world he's known for decades has changed so he must change as well. He will need friends and allies to help keep himself and his daughter safe. He has to find ways to synergise his teleportation power with the abilities of the rest of his team as they fight off waves of monsters. All of this just to survive the introduction of the System to an Earth that isn’t ready for it. What comes after that is anyone’s guess.
No more same-as-yesterday. No more doom-prepping. No more living as a shut-in. It's time to go out and embrace his new power and the apocalypse that has been forced upon him.

Having read Milc's other book, Weretiger I was keen to read this and it doesn't disappoint. The story is progressing at a good pace and I can't wait to see where it goes.

It’s also nice that the story has multiple characters instead of just following one OP character who does everything themself. Fighting and how it’s set up was interesting to read about and the character driven plot points were also engaging. Am adoring this story!!!
- OdioalosHackersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really don't know how to write reviews, I can only say that I loved this story.
This story started 9 months ago, I personally think I started reading it 1 month after it started and it captivated me from the first chapter. I loved seeing how the characters change over time, how romantic and companionate relationships are formed, and also, as it couldn't be missing in this kind of stories, people fighting against other people in the middle of a fucking apocalypse. I have it on my favorites list and I highly recommend it. - ReigningKaosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is such a fun book- it was recommended to me by a friend and I've had a lot of fun reading it. All of the characters have strong personalities and various quirks- even the system, honestly, with its snarky messages and descriptors.
I love the fact that he replies to nearly every message (might actually be all of them), and is happy to take corrections, few as they are.
It's like watching a band of misfits come into a broken system that's ridiculously overpowered and play around. Until.. it's not. There are serious moments, heartwarming moments, and sad moments. But overall you'll spend your time laughing at their antics or growling about stupid NPC's.
On top of the fantastic read, his posting schedule is amazing, with constant updates coming out twice a day.
Take the time- it's worth it.

The author's word choice helps with this too and the author has a unique way of writing. The literary technique of imagery is used incredibly well too. I can safely say that the humor is on point as well. The story can be quite funny, and it works with what the author's going for.
Story: The story is very good. It develops at exactly the pace it needs to and has the pacing it needs to as well. The story itself, up to the point I read to, is about people getting superpowers and experimenting with those powers. The experimentation is where a lot of the humor comes from, and it is very well done.
Grammar: I could not find any grammatical errors. That doesn't mean there aren't any. But if there are, they are few and far between and difficult to notice.
Character: The characters are great. They are a bit exaggerated, but that fits the story perfectly. They are also three dimensional and well-depicted, both main and side characters are like this. The characters also have a degree of realism. I especially like how they start experimenting with their powers because that is definitely something people would do.
Overall, I would recommend this story. - Spleen23Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked this. Pretty much fast paced, constant action, litrpg level ups and character interaction, great for binging, and the author looks to be going the distance.
Character isn't a make every right move, but he does end runs around the set up when he can, a flawed but not deeply flawed guy. - hesrethRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0but im lovin it too much to not give it a 5. loving the banter between joel and ellie-- i mean John and Evie. The references are a hit with me, (tho i am a tad too young and media illiterate to get them all). It's gonna be a fave i can already tell.ill update with a full review at the end of book 1.
ps. justice for the sky rats!!!! - Groggy MoeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very well made. Balanced, the psychological aspects are more realistic than most everywhere else. The system is fairly simplistic but still thought through. Also, the math at least maths for once. Upload schedule is extremely ambitious as well.
Very minor point of critique in that this system apocalypse is happening with what probably could not be less of a proper reason. Just "aliens invade, here are super powers from other aliens so you can fight back." Still, that's a LitRPG at the end of the day, ain't no need for complexity like in Dostoyewski. And the actual "Trials" are deep enough with quite a few twists that aren't just tropes either. - The Jester in RedRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Updated Review:
Carnival is a lit-rpg with a father and daughter duo that try and navigate the apocalypse that is brought on when everyone suddenly has access to a system that grants levels and powers to anyone old enough. It starts slow as the main characters figure out how to use their newfound powers, but picks up momentum as they explore their town.
Overall: I think the story is a perfect fit for anyone who enjoys lit-rpgs and wants to have more down to earth non traditional characters that are common in the genre. The lit-rpgs elements are commonly brought up and characters have to explore how it works without any real directions.
if you are a fan of referential comedy to pop culture you will find a lot of comedic moments through out the story sure to make you laugh
Style : The prose has gotten sharper as the author has revised it and comes across as easy to read. There aren't many big words so you won't have to look up anything.
Story: The Story seems pretty straightforward, but had a sense of urgency. They get the system and a warning that a wave will be there later in the day. We arnt told what the wave is, but we can assume it's probably monsters of some kind
Grammar: there are minor issues, but nothing totally distracting. The author is open to critiques and as this is an updated review, I can say with confidence that it will only continue to get better as they write more.
Character: The Father and Daughter are the main characters and their dynamic is playful, and sure to be reminiscent of any child parent relationship to those that have it. The two play off of one another and make comedic moments out of even the mundane.
If your a fan of the lit-rpgs genre and you want to dive into a new world, this might just be for you. - Temet NosceRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The fic shows decent promise, and the characters begin as believable and relatively briskly depicted elements, but unfortunately both competence and attitude seem to often conform to make a specific scene, and those scenes themselves seem rather stiff.
Apart from that there are some issues with depth and issues with some fiddly bits (most notably the system), but it's a bit of a romp if you can get through that.
