Description
In a city where every human movement is controlled by artificial intelligence, a female security officer witnesses an impossible act during a high-stakes race - a runner competing without augmentation. As the city's perfect automation begins to fail, she discovers her family's hidden role in a generations-long plan to ensure freedom overcomes the trend toward control. With society crumbling and underground forces awakening, she must choose between maintaining the automated order she's sworn to protect or embrace a revolution that could help humanity remember what it means to be truly human. The price of freedom may be higher than anyone imagined. CARDINAL TOWN is a thought-provoking science fiction novel that explores the delicate balance between technological progress and human identity, asking what we lose when we surrender our natural capabilities to artificial perfection - and what it takes to reclaim them.

- A M PRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall, an enjoyable Sci-Fi focusing on a post-apocalyptic society and dealing with implications of implants and cyber enhancements. An enjoyable ride that's worth a read.
Story 5/5 (so far)
Still in the early part (chapter 5) at this point but we already have a source of tension and I'm excited to see where it goes. Sci-Fi elements such as what seems to be an intelligent city design, cybernetic enhancements, and a racing element all seem to play part.
Style 4/5
Good overall style, loses a star for me because it seems to jump perspective a fair bit. This does lead to me being a tad confused about what's happening at the start of the chapters, but the context is usually given soon thereafter so not a big deduction. Overall doesn't require a ton of suspension of belief and is still followable and enjoyable.
Grammar 5/5
Strong grammar, no major mistakes, definitely in the top 5% of this site.
Character 4.5/5 (so far)
Some good characterization so far of some of the characters we follow, loses half a star since I haven't really got to know them yet. That being said I've only read to chapter five and I imagine that characterization will continue with the story.
Overall, worth a read, would suggest giving it a shot!
