- DBoddenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sometimes reading a story is just fun, know what I mean? This thing is exciting, 100mph adrenaline and it made me laugh out loud, not because it’s comical but because the characters legitimately do the hard but right thing. They agonize over it after, but they take the shot, leave people behind, and grab the supplies.
No one is safe.
Part of that is the nature of the threat. These are fast, screaming zombies that infect and convert humans in seconds, so there isn’t a lot of room for screwing around.
Overall I’m loving the ride and interested to see who survives. - TheEarlofBronzeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel is written so well that I found I was experiencing it, and reacting to it, much like I would a film. The story is heavy, intense, brutal and unrelenting, much like the very catastrophe the author has set the story in. It reminds me of the start of The Last of Us, but where that was intense, it was also over within 30 minutes. This novel, on the other hand, does not stop. Making the read both emotionally draining and gripping at the same time.
There are a few grammatical oversights, but overall the writing is very high quality, the characters are believable, and the setting and action is extremely easy to follow and visualize.
Overall, a 5 star experience that I cannot recommend enough. - TwoChaptersAndADreamRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an action packed, no- holds barred, nuclear intensity zombie survival saga. You barely get a moment to catch your breath, and neither do the characters. There are several pov's, including a cop, a military man and a random housewife. Each character makes choices with profound consequences, though timing and luck play as much a role as anything they could have prepared for. They scramble to stay alive. They run out of food, water, ammo. People get bit. People die. There are no magic powers or blue boxes to bail them out. The author leaves you on the tip of your seat for most of this ride, not knowing if the next door they kick in is a safe haven or a rabid- infested death trap.
- ConicleseRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a great story. The action is non-stop and the characters feel real in a way that's rare on this site. Most "military" apocalypse stories treat all soldiers except the MC like robots so it's good to see them acting like individuals, even if those individuals are panicky and irrational.
