Description

A short and pain-filled life was all that Melissa was given, and it wasn't until falling asleep for the last time that she was finally given something more. Waking up in a healthy and young body,and faced with an unfamiliar culture and even more inexplicable sights, Melissa had to adapt to her life new as Kalie, the third Princess of the Shattered Isles of Cerith. It didn't take long for Kalie to realize that even though she finds herself in a strange world, she may just be one of the strangest parts of it.

As Kalie comes to terms with her bizarre new life, she finds herself set in the sights of the powerful new king of a far off land. Eventually finding herself taken away to beCaged within the Ravencourt.

This story is world spanning, and slow to start. It's my intention to build up towards the epic story I'm hoping to tell. Don’t expect over the top powers, just smart characters using magic interestingly. And, like my other stories, the focus is on the characters themselves, less so the world they’re in. Enjoy!

Now that the story has reached the 10k mark I think it's finally time for me to upgrade my rating to a review! I was lucky to catch this one right out the gate. I'm a fan of Cambel's from his other work, and this was an interestingly different direction for them!
Overall, this is a great story so far. It's interesting, and the character's depth so far is very intriguing. As far as isekai stories go, this is definitely far from the standard in my opinion. The main character doesn't just wake up and kick everyone and everything's ass in a 5 mile radius which is my cup of tea!
The story's pacing so far is a bit of a funky beast as it's quick (shorter chapters) but 100 things haven't exactly happened yet, however, the pace that the chapters are releasing at makes up for that and then some.
The style is interesting. I'm a fan of Cambel's from their other stories, so their style is here in full force. First person, past tense isn't everyone's cup of tea, but they use it to great effect by really getting in the head of the main character.
Grammar is pretty decent, the occasional mess up, but the author is quick to fix them, so that's no biggie.
The story is original, and unlike anything I've read before, and I've read a ton of isekai. The story that's being set up seems to be really interesting, based on all the hints that are being dropped in the early chapters. I'm excited to see where things go.
As far as characters go, this is where Cambel really excels. All their characters are well fleshed out, and feel real. Since this is a fantasy setting it's sorta funny to hear the almost-archaic way that some of the characters speak, but it works. The few characters we've been introduced to so far are interesting, and I'm excited to see where the story ends up taking them.
Overall, I think that you should read this! Caged within the Ravencourt is one of the better stories that I've come across, and I'm happy that I've been able to get in at the ground floor (lol)

This Is one of those hidden gems that you come across on RR every so often that it feels like no one else has found! I'd be pissed that I missed it had I not found it. A good read overall, quick, and solid pacing. Good grammar for sure. Great characters so far! Oodles of depth for the MC but the rest of the characters are still coming along as we get to know them better. I think the one thing that could use some work is the variety of characters, especially love interests! But that's definitely my own bias showing lol. Overall the plot itself is really interesting so far and things are progressing in a sort of expected way, but at the same time when someone knows what they're doing, like this, it still works! Chapters are a bit on the short side but at the same time they're posted pretty often so it's not frustrating. Pacing is quick and the arcs are coming quickly, but it doesn't feel like it's coming insanely fast or anything.
I'm loving it so far!
I have no clue how many more words I need to put in this review, so hopefully this is enough!

Now... I can't say too much about the story. The summary doesn't lie when it says that it's slow-paced, chapter 4 not nearly enough for the plot to get into the nit and gritty of things. Still, I would say that it was interesting enough to continue. Grammar is fine with the style being a little weird at times. Still neat tho. All in all, I would say that this story deserves a 4.5/5. Good stuff
