Description
London Pierce, an avid mountain biker and Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, found himself unexpectedly gifted with healing magic. This newfound power, however, thrust him into a world of chaotic battles, where he and his loyal friends, dubbed the "Donner Party" must now use their gaming knowledge and newfound abilities to defend their hometown from a magical invasion. Armed with swords, shields, and a healthy dose of plot armor, they embark on a perilous journey, facing dangers and casting spells in a desperate bid for survival.
Light AI is used for editing spelling and grammar, but the entire story is written by a live non magical level 1 Human.

- 10thMtnManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Stratos masterfully blends the familiar magic of classic D&D with the pulse of real-world locations, creating a thrilling, immersive experience. The story weaves comedy, drama, and danger seamlessly, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The inventive twists on classic spells and the introduction of entirely new realms make this adventure both awe-inspiring and unpredictable. It’s a truly unique journey that redefines fantasy storytelling. Keep it up!!!!
- TeddgaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Since I'm only reviewing the prolog... I can't talk about the MC, or support characters.
I found the writing clean (no spelling or grammar errors noticed). I did note that I had to adopt new vocabulary, but had no problem understanding the new words. I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that my guess is the author actually speaks English fluently. I mean, it's not a given, but it's my guess. :)
The extra character (seemed like a wage-slave to me), had normal problems, normal goals, and a predictable future... and was still held my attention. I'm also wondering if and when the extra character will show up in the main story.
The behind the scenes social/economical build-up made sense, and hinted at what the MC will have to face. I'm figuring that the MC will be challenged to create a place for Earth in a galactic society.
I think I really like that there is a reasonable explanation for all the trials and tribulations the MC will obviously have to deal with. There is a pre-existing class hierarchy, and the MC hasn't earned a place in it. Yet, there is a lot of room for figuring out unique ways to create an OP character, or maybe a character that can leverage new ideas in an old and established society.
As a first chapter, I'm hooked. - AarithRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Hey! I gave this a read and wanted to share some thoughts. I’ll be honest—I’m not super familiar with IT or networking, so a lot of the technical stuff went over my head. That made the middle portion of the chapter feel a bit dense and hard to follow for me. The troubleshooting sequence, while realistic, kind of slowed things down and felt more like a tech manual than a story at times. I found myself waiting for something more dramatic or unexpected to happen.
The writing itself is clear and competent, and I liked the main character’s calm, collected personality—London feels grounded and professional. But the story lacks tension; it’s pretty clear from the beginning that he’ll solve the issue, so there’s not much suspense. The resolution also felt a bit too neat and predictable, and some of the dialogue in the NOC was repetitive.
I get that this is probably aimed more at readers who enjoy realistic, tech-heavy fiction, but for someone like me without that background, it was a little tough to stay engaged. That said, I did enjoy the ending scene with the friends—that part gave London some nice human dimension.
Appreciate the effort and detail here, but I’d love to see more emotional stakes or unexpected turns to keep the momentum up. - ndsireRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The writer definitely understands the importance of crafting a realistic character. No Mary Sue here. The Orb is very cool. It hooked me. And I am a sucker for the runes trope. I want to know all about them. The setting sounds very mysterious almost like the character is on an archaeology dig or in a factory. I will read more. I definitely don't think the character has a mundane job. I would gladly switch places. That's a dream job.
