Description
The Dao reverberates across Heaven and Earth after eldritch abominations peer into reality. Sects and powers from all over scramble to come up with countermeasures before a full scale invasion destroys reality as they know it. One sect leans into the Weird qi that develops and cultivates warriors using the Butterfly Dream Scripture, a highly experimental and unorthodox technique.

- GalaxieBlue90Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a combination of a typical xianxia story mixed Eldritch horror. The main character John is someone who was captured and basically tortured for the sake of combating some type of Eldritch abomination, all the while taking care of other people who are in the same situation as he is. The unique setting does make it stand out from your average xianxia story although you will still occasionally see some common tropes
Like the idiotic young master who gets himself and people around him killed because of his idiotic decisions. Or the main love interest who falls in love with the main character out of seemingly nowhere.
. The main character despite everything he's gone through is a calm and rational individual which I do like but sometimes it does make a little bland at times.
I like the story so far though and I can't wait too read more of it. - KentheEnlightenedDemonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ever wondered how a cultivator would interact with a outer god? Well no need to wonder anymore , your dreams can fulfill in this thrilling story , an adventure into the mind of the protagonist John and his transformation. John is the best , something is coming for John because John is the best. SOMETHING IS COMING
- JimraynerRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The cultivation system is cool and unique but is brought down by litteraly everything else in this story.
The characters are really shallow, plot is a lot of random side quests and random events, releated annoying side characters, etc.
The biggest problems are that it's just kind of bland, the setting feels somewhat bland and poorly written. The main character acts and thinks like a generic main character instead of a mentally tortured eldritch cultivator (dude got tortured for weeks and was fine after a few days, idk).
The plot is really medicore too, there are no stakes or tension, the sect leader should feel like some ominous/mysterious character but feels like a toolbox, the elders have no personality and the story is more focused on the things going bad for the mc and him dealing with things somehow.
Admittedly, even the eldritch part felt kind of dissapointing, the mc starts off with a fun fight style but eventually just goes more and more generic. Added with no spicy personality, it's hard to really differenciate between him and a normal cultivator in many other stories.
I really wish the author had just let loose and experimented with goofy eldritchy stuff, at least added some madness elements or mutations to the mc, instead his progression feels more like a normal xianxia protagonist (The side characters have cooler concepts but get little screen time)
Overall, the story had good ideas but went too generic and safe, added with poorly written plot and characters, it's just a big dissapointment.
(PS: To the author, maybe check out "History's Number 1 Founder" for a better idea on how to set up a cultivation system with few tiers while not making it feel shallow or rushed.)
