Description

"Live for me."

Those were the final words he heard, a desperate plea to help him stay alive.

In a single day, twelve-year-old Luke Fenix's world was shattered.

The dead walked, death loomed over every corner. Surviving that nightmare seemed impossible—if not for his uncanny, god-like luck.

Six years later, Luke has transformed his grief and resolve into strength. Joining an elite military squad, he has honed his skills, sharpened his instincts, and, above all, learned to master the one thing that has always been on his side: his luck.

Now, with a new family by his side, Luke will face challenges that would break even the mightiest of men. Even if the many people they ally fight against their side, the foes that come with it double the price.

But can he become the soldier he promised his savior he'd be?

The leader someone believed he could become?

Or the hero he vowed to be for the woman who captured his heart?

As the line between life and death blurs, Luke must confront the difficulties of being both a soldier and a hero. Will he rise above, or...

Will his luck finally run out?

Style: The author shows even the simplest of actions the characters take. In the first ten chapters, he does half tell, half show. But later on, he gets fully descriptive with every character, showing his growth as a writer.
Grammer: There are a few instances of grammar not being the best, but it doesn't pull you out of the drama and action. One could say the author needs to take a break, considering he pumps out chapters like hot cakes.
Character: Only complaint, the names are normal and average. But other than that, the characters clearly have normal and clear goals they have, and the chemistry between them are superb. Luke, Luna, Gwen, and even Fred are what drawed me to read more and more of the story, and the payoff and growth they recieved is amazing. In conclusion; they feel human.
Story: For an ameuter writer, the author knows how to write a story. Say what you want about grammar, but the story and fights are exceptional for a first arc. Foreshadowing is huge, characters being pushed to their limits. The two major plot twists during the second and third acts are what made my jaw dropped. I don't want to spoil, but fighting your comrades that turned into liches?! And they have the same powers as them?! And they could regenerate and our heroes don't!? Only complaint, author really loves fights, but I also love fight scenes too.
