- Winged ThingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is rare to find a gem in the rough but this is certainly one of those gems. If polished this is a story capable of exceeding many sci fi novels written by established authours. It's not quite Neal Asher but it's not trying to be. The flaws I have noticed are mainly grammar and pacing. Things flow disjointedly at points plotwise and some bits need an edit or proofread pass but overall this is quality scifi with intrigue, compelling characters and hell it's even got blue boxes for those attracted to such things. TDLR: Good scifi, first contact story that is fast paced enough to be considered a 'page turner' It's quality, read it. A/N keep going with this and you'll have something damn fine to show for it (Not that it isn't already pretty dang good)
- suppestianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First to say i like the starting point, it could be a premise for an interessting First-Contact-scenario.
There are a few points that i hope will be adressed in the following chapters: (spoiler?)
1. the AI seems the give a shit on the asimov laws and the commands of the captain, and thats not your everyday housekeeper AI but the main AI of a miltary convoy. so theres a need of an explanation/backstory
2. i hope that now with entering the game it will not change into some happy go lucky space litrRPG adventure or/and a pure planing/cunning MC winning the game against the odds with the help of her "new alien friend" in her head. But more about how she acts with the knowledge of her alien observer.
What side of hummanity does she want to show the aliens? Will she work activly to show the good side of hummanity?... or the dominating, fearsome side? or an objective approach? After her "genius introduction" with military background she should do more then just do whatever she wants without thinking about this.
do her alien observers interact with her or simply sit back and collect data? speak with her? maybe become personal on a 1on1 basic or are they just 1 entity? maybe force her into some scenarios to gether specific data? do they understand the difference in habbits between gaming and living? (people tent to be more reckless/suicidal/asshole/true to their nature when gaming has no real effects on your reallife-persona or standing in society or health)
is there a communication/ deal between the AI and the aliens or are they just curious as they claim? does the AIs have their own agenda? a united one? or each AI of their own?
So this review is more to encourage the author then to judge the novel acuratly which would be kinda hard with 5ch so far.
So just the basics:
i like the style, quite a bit techie, but not hard to understand.
There are a few passages which impede the storys flow but an overall solid work.
The story went through aceptable basic editing.
There are no - claws8367Royal Road★★★ 2.5Ill be honest: its going way too fast for me. What is done in 10 chapters could have been a easy 30+ chapters. The chapters feel like info dumps and not a story. The "game" doesnt even have gamelements, even with the blue boxes. It is just a way to earn exp/currency... i liked the premise of the story, gramer/spelling is great, but its off puting how quick paced all of this is.
