Description

In the world of Eldryndr, where monstrous creatures roam the seas, skies, and land, Uther, a skilled hunter and loyal member of a renowned warrior clan, is faced with a moral dilemma that sets him on a perilous journey. Tasked by a secretive branch of the empire to slay a kraken, Rylan finds himself torn between his duty and his sense of compassion.

Haunted by memories of innocent beings caught in the crossfire of violence, Uther defies the empire's orders and spares the young kraken, recognizing the inherent innocence within its monstrous exterior. Little does he know that this single act of mercy will irreversibly change his life, setting him on a collision course with not only the empire's wrath but also his own warrior clan's code of honor.

Branded a traitor and a threat to the empire's dominance, Uther becomes a fugitive, pursued relentlessly by both the empire's elites and his former brethren. As he flees through treacherous landscapes, Uther discovers the truth behind why he was hired and the reason the kraken was targeted. He is offered a chance at redemption, as well as a glimpse into the truth about how to truly gain power in this world

With the odds stacked against him, Uther must not only survive the relentless pursuit but also confront the dual challenges that now stand in his path. The baby kraken he spared has developed an unbreakable bond with Uther. Now together, they embark on a quest to confront the empire's insidious forces, and gain enough power to be able to do so and survive.

As the lines between friend and foe blur, Uther’s journey becomes an exploration of his own identity and the consequences of choosing compassion over blind loyalty. Along the way, he encounters unexpected allies and battles both physical and internal demons, ultimately questioning the very nature of monstrosity and the true meaning of heroism.

This first installment is an enthralling tale of sacrifice, forgiveness, and the transformative power of empathy. Through its vivid characters and pulse-pounding action, the novel invites readers to contemplate the delicate balance between duty and conscience, challenging the notion of what it means to be a hunter, a hero, and above all, a person.

So, this is a new fiction as of writing this, and so there's not too much to go off of, so bear that in mind as I write this. However, this fiction seems great so far, and there aren't any other reviews, so I feel it's important that I at lease give a brief overview for anybody coming across this fiction.
To start, overall, it's incredibly solid so far. It seems somewhat of a hybrid of a LitRPG setting with a more classical fantasy world - so more swords, sorcery, and monsters than the insane power levels many LitRPG fall victim of.
    Style:
Style seems great so far. As I mentioned before, it's written a bit more like classic fantasy, although there is a system in place, which I personally quite enjoy. Classic fantasy style stuff often gets overlooked on this site, but it's classic for a reason - it works, and is great when done well. And it seems to be done well here.
    Story:
Story also seems great so far. We're less than ten chaps in, and already can feel the plot and stakes building. There are clear things happening in the background, as well as shorter and more mid-term goals and plot points that are on the horizon. Honestlu very well executed.
    Grammar:
Grammar is also great - as far as I've noticed, near flawless so far. Again, it reads like classic fantasy - great grammar, great prose - honestly better than a lot of what I've read on amazon these days!
    Characters:
Also seems great so far. This is the category I can be least definitive in, as we're early days, and most characters other than the MC have only had a scene or two. But the MC is written very well, with a clear background, strengths and weaknesses, morals and motivations. The side characters so far have seemed great as well - and are written in a way fitting to the setting. You can feel the years of history many of them share, and the way that has shaped their relationships.
So overall, I'd recommend people give this a look. It's a really solid start, and I an genuinely looking forward to seeing where i
