Synopsis

Early one morning, the world ended. The devastating Alpha Event rewrote the very laws of reality itself, transforming peaceful cities and communities into sprawling hellscapes filled with flesh-eating zombies - and worse!

For Daniel, a Zombie Apocalypse couldn’t have happened at a worse time. If he’d been back at the farm, he might have stood a better chance than most. Instead, Daniel woke up in a distant hotel room armed with nothing but a hangover.

To add insult to injury, as he and other survivors shelter for safety in their hotel, Daniel discovers another misfortune. To help guide them through the horrors of this new reality, each suvivor is supposed to have been grafted with an interface - a guide to help them level up, develop their skills, and better understand the world around them.

Daniel’s is broken.

Nevertheless, this new reality has gifted Daniel with other strange, new powers - powers which could enable him to unite what other survivors they can find into a force capable of surviving in this cruel, new world.

Kernal is the first book in the Broken Interface series, set in Alex Kozlowski’s Alpha Physics Universe - described by readers as “a breath of fresh air” in the LitRPG genre, with stories that are “human, thought out, and realistic.”

Style. Single third person POV, LITRPG, with gore, adult themes but no explicit sexual content.

Warning. There will be a cute pet.

The grammar is sometimes hard to follow and there are some missing words in sentences. Other than that is is a captivating and super interesting story. One of the better ones I have read so far.
Keep up the awesome work and you have a fan in me.

Welcome to the end of days...where the main character dies in th...oh wait.?. He doesn't die? Hmm ok well let's see where this story goes!
Welcome to Broken Interface where things need to be done and goodness me, I am not going to tell the fun parts, you will just have to read it and make your own opinions.

This story is set in the same universe as Alpha Physics, a fantastic post apocalyptic litrpg by the same author. I'd personally recommend you read that one first for a better understanding of the world and mechanics. There's also the exciting possibility of the two intersecting later in their storylines.
This series didn't draw me in as fast as the first, mainly because I found some of the characters a little hard to root for. However, as they've developed I've become thoroughly invested and am excited to follow them to the end. Other aspects of the story: world building, dramatic tension, power progression and dialogue are all really well executed imo.
The grammar and punctuation are really well executed too, which gets it all the way to 5 stars for me.

One of the few I've thought about paying Patreon for!
25 chapters in, only spotted 1 typo so far, shows a touch of care goes into it before just pasting and uploading!
The characters are consistent and the system so far is great. Looking forward to keeping this one in my reading cycle!

So I'm really enjoying this story set in Australia and the system the author is creating. The characters are interesting if maybe slightly undefined for several of them but overall they are engaging (Priscilla steals the show).
The author has mixed in magic to his apocalyptic world so we have more than just claws and fur to worry about. Also the levelling isn't thrown in our faces and instead hinted at by one of the other characters along with the MCs iunique method due to his situation. Also skills levelling is also dealt with subtly and not just dumped on the reader..
The setting allows for a slow build up and as the story progresses it does pickup pace and adds more characters to help drive the story on. There is obviously a whole world to explore so it'll be interesting to see where this goes when they move on from where they are.
The lack is stats may bug some Apocalyptic readers but I feel it lets the story flow as it doesn't breakup the chapters with lots of data.
There a few grammatical errors but the author is aware and does engage with reviewers so worth pointing out
All in all it's a good read and well worth you giving it a go.

This story is very nice, at the start the MC is a bit dazed from the changes that happens to him , but that passses and we get to see him adapt and overcome the issues he faces . The characters are developed and believable and the pace is nice. It's not too face or slow. The grammar is good enough that it doesn't interfere with reading the story. All in all it's worth a try, five out of five . Would definitely recommend it , give it a try.                  ...................................................,..................................

So far this is quite a fun ride. I'm enjoying the physics concepts sprinkled into the magic, and so far the personal interactions are odd but sort of believable considering the circumstances.
Grammatically, there are several issues that I have added into comments, but the author seems very receptive which evens that out in my opinion.
In Ch18, there is something that happens which might prove to be problematic,
but I'm interested in seeing where this goes so I will continue reading.
If you enjoy an MC who has an incredibly OP ability, and an incredibly OP way to continue to gain even more OP abilities... this will probably be a fun read for you.

Without considering the problems already pointed out by the others reviews, what I suggest is just to wait. Mainly. because the chapters are quite short. Unless you wait for 40-50  chapters, that probably will take 2 months to be written, you will finish the chapters quickly and the situation they are currently facing won't even been at the end.

For the most part it's written well. Despite what other reviews may say the Mc is not a beta bitch, the author is simply portraying emotions. The characters are human and are written as such.
The combat is a awkward in its imagery, eg when fighting the big ol lumbering giant he hits his elbow for funny bone damage despite said giant bracing itself against the ground to avoid a faceplant in a tight hallway. How the hell is he the back of its elbow from that angle?
I personally skipped alot of the combat scenes because I'm not big on the trapping style.
At around ch20 the Mc finally starts exploring his nature / abilities and has a sudden jump in hero complex character growth, so if you can imagine the first 20 chaps as the prologue to give it a chance this might be the story for you.
It seems to be a slow burn with the mc tailored for base building.
The story has a bit too much inner dialogue for me, its bogging down the rest of the story. 3 chapters for experimenting with traps and 2 sentences to describe characters? All I remember about fml is that she's short and a nurse, and lightning chic has an English accent.

When I started to read this novel I was hooked. The way he got his ability, the fact that he "cheated" the system and got an ability out of it, it was amazing and well thought out.
But here is where I go South: the MC himself is unrealistically childish and disappointing, not in his ability or power but his behavior. He behaves like a child in the body of a man. Which is not that appealing to me. But my curiosity kept me reading. We as readers are discovering the world as the story goes and the author did a good job with building that.
I don't believe that this author or anyone has to study the behavior of humans to write a book but please make it make sense.
Let's start with the dynamic between him and his one-night stand. Tho story describes this man as a grown man in his 30s I'm not sure but he's a mature adult. How can you be shy to look at the girl you just banged? And the woman has to tell you "I think we are past the point your shy looking at my panties"  I can't understand that behavior at all. And I know the author made him like that. But realistically no man should be shy to look at a woman they just had sex with that is some 10 years old behavior.
And in their relationship, he is clearly submissive. And I don't have a problem with submissive men, but he relies on her so much that he is inactive without her. Like he would have never left his room if it wasn't for her. And she needs to constantly motivate him to get stronger, she needs to push him mentally to progress. And when I read the comments it seems the majority dislike her. But I like her more than the mc.
And that is my 2 point who is the mc sometimes it feels like Ivey is the MC but later in the story that feeling diminished. Ivey is such a well-written character. They are in an Apocalyptic evolutionary setting. That means if you do not progress you will fall behind and die. The need to push forward is there but it doesn't come from the mc.
The story is good, interesting, and well written. The hum
