Breadknives and Boomsticks: A Cozy Fantasy about Bad Baking

Description
Half-troll Runa is meant to be ferrying heroes to their next adventure, not fighting a tiny fire lizard over stolen muffins. When a magical catastrophe leaves Runa stranded far from her party, she holes up in the nearest shelter she can find - an abandoned bakery, in a town whose quirky inhabitants jump at the chance to have someone else do their doughy work... despite the fact that Runa can't tell a croissant from a crossbow. After a lifetime of splitting heads, Runa discovers it's kind of fun to split bread, instead. Even if she has to bargain with a magical fire salamander for partial custody of the bread oven. But when a knife-wielding priestess with the best hair she's ever seen appears in her basement, Runa's new life crumbles around her. Forget going after the evil overlord - this time, the big bad has come after her. And she doesn't think pain au chocolat is the sort of pain they're interested in.

I'm very excited to see where the Story takes us, and happy that I've found another cozy story to warm my heart. - vtech1855Royal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm really enjoying this story, setting, and characters. The spelling and grammar are great too! The story flows well and dialogue is fluid.
As a reader, there is a glaring issue present in some chapters:
There are "cuts to black" at the end ends of chapters, right when a character says something exclamatory, as if this is an episode of Full House before cutting to commercials. It is frustrating as I start some chapters trying to figure out why things are happening, and the answer is "import events and conversations occured in between the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next". The reader is left without context or clues why things are happening/being said. I don't enjoy reading an entire chapter wondering if the author forgot content or if I'm just supposed to be inferring what happened from context, or left waiting for a reveal later on.
