Description
--Spin off-Prequel of my novel "The tale of a vampire slayer" that follows the legend of Azrael, the strongest Slayer--[Trigger Warning! May contain Very violent scenes.]"A man with no past. A shadow with no master. A legend whispered in fear."Six hundred years ago, the Gods took everything from her. Today, she takes the world. For centuries, Queen Maria has waged a silent war against humanity—a crusade born from grief after the divine stripped her of her happiness. Stopped in the past only by the blade of the First Hunter, Erebahl, she used the centuries of silence to prepare. Now, Erebahl is gone. Maria’s "children" have infiltrated every kingdom, every court, and every shadow. The board is set for checkmate. But the Abyss has a cruel sense of humor. From the ashes of despair, an anomaly has risen. Azrael Noctis.A man with no divine blessing and no magic, armed only with flesh and steel. Vampires fear him as a demon, but the truth is far more terrifying: his soul was forged in the fires of humanity's collective hatred for monsters... fused with the wandering soul of Mark, the only man Queen Maria ever loved. He is a weapon crafted to kill her, yet he carries the one thing she desires most. But Azrael has a fatal flaw. It is not his lack of magic, but his soul itself. His unwavering goodness, his humanity, and his mercy are cracks in his armor—a weakness in a world that rewards only cruelty. He is the Queen's lost love and the executioner of her kind.A Dark Fantasy epic where the only way to save the world is to destroy the face of the one you once loved.-What to expect:Ruthless Anti-Hero: The MC does not hesitate. No naive pacifism here. Monsters die, and it gets messy.Dual Perspective: You will follow both the Hunter (Azrael) and the Queen (Maria). Moral ambiguity is central—villains have reasons, and heroes have flaws.Physically OP MC: No magic spells for the protagonist. Just raw strength, speed, and heavy steel against a world of sorcery.Graphic Violence: Visceral combat and dark themes.Tragedy & Subplot Romance: Romance exists, but it is tragic and slow-burn. It drives the plot but doesn't overshadow the war.

Each and every moment keeps you longing to see what comes next. Will the monstrous vampire succeed, or will Azrael prove that even the scariest foes are still just a beast that needs to be hunted down with masterful skill? - SVIKCNOVELRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Man, I just finished reading the first 10 chapters- it's absolutely binge-worthy. I loved the pacing; the tension keeps building with every scene. The tavern framing in Chapter 1 sets up Azrael’s mythic aura perfectly, while Chapter 10 hints at a much larger game involving Maria, Freya, and the children as key players.
The characters are layered, each with their own depth (Freya’s my favorite so far). Azrael is a (un)living legend, but also deeply human. His trust in Freya feels meaningful and rare.
And I have to mention the combat- it is vivid, cinematic, and intense. Every fight feels like a visual spectacle.
Overall, I’m genuinely excited to see what happens next. This saga has serious momentum. - clem_swordRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I initially worried the story would stay too focused on the MC, but I’m glad I stuck around. The wider cast really shines! Ryukiro does a fantastic job giving each character depth and not staying one-dimensional and their dynamics fun to follow. I especially enjoyed Freya’s one-sided affection for Azrael and the gradual build-up toward the current protagonist, Maria.
Excited to see where the story goes from here! - Bernadus AndrewRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Heya—I finally got around to finishing your fiction (up to chapter 13). Sorry, it took me kinda while. But here’s my review of your fiction:
Born to End the Night presents itself as a dark fantasy epic about Azrael Noctis, the mythic “Slayer Without Magic”—set in a world of vampires, cursed legends, and bloody battles. On paper, your story promises the appeal of mythic heroism and gothic atmosphere. In execution, however, your fiction struggles to find a balance between cinematic intent and literary precision.
Your world-building has ambition. The legend of Azrael Noctic is grand in scale, invoking the tone of medieval myth and shonen-style anime heroism. The setting — haunted taverns, cursed forests, ancient vampire lords —has a clear aesthetic direction that fans of Castlevania or Hellsing will recognize immediately.
There’s also a sense of visual drama you provided in your writing for this book: the imagery of glowing eyes, shattered earth, and sword-clashing in a cinematic style. You clearly see the story as a movie in their head, and that visualization translates well in the more kinetic scenes.
Your prose often dwells in excess description and redundancy. Nearly every action or emotion is repeated two or three times with only slight wording changes. “He felt fear. True fear. The king of fear that makes men tremble.”—This padding deflates tension rather than enhancing it.
Many sentences over-explain what I already know: “Azrael hated monsters. He hated them because they were monsters.” This could be trimmed by half without losing meaning.
Born to End the Night opens with a long exposition dump about Azrael’s legend, followed by another legend being retold, followed by an action scene that goes on for pages. There’s little narrative rhythm—just constant intensity. Without quieter, reflective moments, your story loses contrast. Every chapter (up to the 13th chapter) feels like a “boss fight”, leaving no room for escalation or emotional buildup.
