Description
Twilight is the latest VRMMO to dominate the market, with more than 3 billion players. The first choice for those who choose to dwell in the vast and mysterious world of Twilight is simple; choose which faction to fight for. Players engage in an endless war with one another, to decide if the Hallowed or the Darkblessed will prevail. Using technology deeply rooted in everyday life to create a virtual world, Twilight has become a second reality for much of mankind.
In this reality, Vince is a ranker. A powerful paladin who vies for power, honor, and glory. Yet unseen enemies are always lurking in the shadows cast by the radiance, looking for a chance to destroy all that he has built. And when the game offers only a single chance at redemption, those enemies are made all the more dangerous. Will he weather the tribulations and emerge victorious, or will he crumble under the pressure and lose the friend and life he values the most?

- JomilyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It fits my cup of tea. Fun to read. I enjoy the descriptions of active scenes, gives me a thrill! Also, the way emotions are very vivid and make the reader one with the character. The countdown and the extra syntax intricacies keep you on edge, craving for more! Can't wait for the next chapter to come out!
- Sir NilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the author who brought you Oath of Oblivion comes another gritty and realistic story, this time set in a futuristic sci fi setting. The main character juggles difficult action VR combat with pressure from sponsers, making the hospital payments for his sick friend, and the pressure of fame to always stay on top. It's clear despite his good intentions that he is very flawed, and even at ten chapters there are plots being built up in the background for a later big reveal. I look forward to how it all comes together.
- Teh Mahou ShounenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story starts out in a futuristic tech utopia that allows videogames to be extremely realistic. You can share in the thrill of the fight as you follow Vin through his journey.
The characters are very likeable, distinct and complex. You find yourself rooting for them even early on in the story.
Mostly a serious read but it has the occasional humor, so that's a plus for me. Bonus points for romantic subplot - no story is complete without it imo.
And finally the twists and turns. That last chapter had me shook with a cliffhanger, that honestly should be illegal. Nevertheless I'm hooked and can't wait to find out what happens next!
Getting to explore both Twilight as well as the outside world keeps me intrigued. Overall the story looks very promising, especially now that it seems to have taken a most interesting turn that may shift the way the protagonist interacts with both worlds around him. - jacobpaigeRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Let's start with the positive. The grammar and writing are actually quite good. I think I spotted maybe one typo in the whole thing. The game is just a game, the real world exists and the main character does visit it. A lot of stories in this genre fail at one or all of these things.
Now for the not so positive. The game wouldn't be number one in the world. Anyone mildly familiar with video game history, particularly MMO history, would know that this game would be a niche title at best that would hit its peak in the first month or so and switftly lose 90%+ of its playerbase shortly thereafter. This isn't a dealbreaker of course as this is very, very common in this genre, but it is still a major negative for me.
Combine that with an MC who is his own worst enemy, and whom I cannot believe was actually able to climb to the number two spot in the number one game in the world while also raising a hardcore RP and PVP guild to the number three spot, and its downright immersion breaking.
Speaking of which, with the setting we're given, the MC should be rich. Just look at what people like Ninja were making when Fortnight was at its peak and you'll see that five figures a year is chump change compared to what the top streamers in the top game can pull in with a much lower player base than the 3 billion mentioned in the synopsis, which is just another spot for immersion to be broken.
For the nuetral, the story is slow paced. For some this will be good, and others bad. For me, it depends on the story, and in this story, we're basically still stuck in the prologue seven chapters in, which is a bit too slow for me.
