The novel explores an daring genre, which can be challenging to combine history and comedy. Usually it's difficult to find humor in novels as sometimes the jokes or events fall flat. However this author managed to execute it well from Chapter 1 with "Julius (Not Ceasar)." I have to admit that it actually made me laugh even if it might not have been intentional.

I am not gonna lie to you I did not expect this much creativity and humor when I started this. What could have been a very dry historical fiction which a lot of writers can pull off these days is actually filled with a ton of comedy.  I appreciate the pace which is fast and does not leave the reader bored between chapters. I want to see how this ends for sure!

I clicked on the ad because the premise seemed unique enough and hilarious as well. It definitely delivers on both fronts. An improbable coach takes on the job of guiding a barbarian with an aversion to killing on their rise to glory in the arena. It goes without saying that they are polar opposites. Despite humorous undertones, stakes are high for both protagonists, and the drama tag is definitely missing. The result is a quite unique mixture not often seen at Royal Road. A strong part of the story are the settings and characters. Improvements are in order on the editing and grammar sides. I would also tone down a bit of monkey humor in chapter two, but that is my personal preference. Overall, it was an almost perfect score. Hopefully, the author will continue writing this interesting and unique story.

A pretty interesting concept for a novel here, and well executed so far. (Perhaps a review at this point is premature, but at least as of "Ep 13", this seems on track to be a well-built and enjoyable story that's worth keeping an eye on.)
The style is fast-paced and well-suited for the genre. The setting is revealed alongside the plot as and when required, no lengthy expositions. The characters are likeable but not perfect. There's not too much depth to them yet, but there's hints of more in that direction.
If you want some intrigue, some heart, some action, and some humour, give this one a try.
