Description

Jiang Cheng is just another outer disciple in the vast Falling Star Sect, struggling for every scrap of progress in a world where talent and resources dictate one's fate. But he is not just another cultivator. Strange subconscious thoughts, remnants of another life, whisper ideas foreign to this world, guiding his every step. Combined with his sharp perception and unyielding determination, In a sect where the strong trample the weak, can he turn these vague memories and instincts into true strength, or will he remain just another ant beneath their feet? And more importantly. Will he find out about the truth of these distant thoughts? What to expect:

Solitude. Cheng will for the majority of the story will be alone. Cultivation is supposed to be a lonely thing, but you don't really feel like the characters are alone for the long periods of time they are described to go into seclusion. You don't really get this feeling from most cultivation novels, and that is something I want to change.

Nonstandard cultivation. Names aside, the stages are quite different than what one usually expects.

No Unearned power boosts. I will try and make sure the power increases feel earned. No heavenly boons around here. ...Most of the time.

Slow burn. This novel will be big and lengthy. If you came here for interactions between characters, You'd best wait for Arc/Book two. or skip it. But then again, you'd miss on the first step of Cheng's journey. The point is that it will take time. And as I mentioned above, Cheng will spend a great majority of his life, being alone, because that is how he is as a person, and the fact that cultivators have to spend time alone in closed door cultivation.

This story embodies the cultivator's journey with the slow, methodical pace you'd expect from the descriptions you hear about in every cultivation novel, but never see because of some cheat or shortcut. It's not an action-packed adventure, but it does keep you entertained. I did expect more of the internal thoughts to come into play (the other life memories plot thread) but so far it hasn't been explored much. Less character interactions and meaningful relationships than I like in general, he's a loner and that fits with the typical solitude along the immortal path trend you usually see in these types of stories, but... relationships /interactions are the heart and soul of stories so that is one drawback where it is lacking.
I'll give it 5/5 stars, though I think 4.5 would be most accurate for my personal enjoyment.

Striking a balance when the main char has a special talent is hard, between being a dormat man constantly running from fire to fire, or some powerful ladder climber that never really faces setbacks.
This story feels like the tale of someone that could exist in a world without breaking it. Somewhat like a slice of life progression. But you feel like the progress in meaningful, it isn't preachy about how a story should be and is all round enjoyable. Definetly one to watch.

    Amazing slow burn love it!
Cultivation done well everything so far makes sense and the progress is just right enough for a nice slow story that still makes you feel invested in it, and the crafting feels well planed out and real in that special magic way that a cultivation novel needs.
I cant wait to see how the latest idea works out for our hero !

Not much to say.  will have more to say in the future.
For the superior man is quiet and calm waiting for the appointments of heaven

This story is more of a slow burn if you prefer a more down-to-earth cultivation story that doesn't seem to be rushing past the lower levels then this is for you. I will say I think I would prefer some more side characters to bounce off of, but that seems to be something that is being set up for later and the story is still good with the current dearth.

It's not full of tropes. Wanted to get that out first for people who read the description and are on the edge wondering if they should read it. Please do, it's a nice story to add to your RR rotation. The pacing is good, and the mc is sensible and not annoying.

    The content is interesting.
The prose is structured in a deliberate, emphatic manner which I think would only be suitable for a climax of some sort, otherwise it feels exhausting, but the mc refuses to arrive at the climax of his first cultivation stage.
I am also curious to see if the mc will choose to perfect every level in this power system before advancing.
Hoping for more combat and more world building

Overall I think this story is fine. I'm a sucker for xanxia stories and so despite some glaring flaws i enjoyed it. The main improvement it could make is the utterly horrendous grammar. The wording in some paragraphs could make me cough blood if I was a cultivator.
Otherwise I think the main things the story could do better are worldbuilding and character development. Despite being a decent ways in the story, nothing is explained. While some lack of knowledge is explained by our mc's lowly position even the most basic information, where is our main character and his sect, what can cultivators do (fly, smash mountains etc), what's out there, isn't known. This also goes into the next critique, why does our mc not talk to anyone? In a stylistic sense the story is empty since there are basically no conversations even with random people. For a protagonist that is supposedly so curious he doesn't even engage in the most basic type of information gathering, asking questions. The story presents many questions but seems uninterested in getting the mc to answer them, or at least attempt to.
A small critique of our protagonist other wordly knowledge. While I think this plot point is fine I just wish the story didn't keep raising how weird it is every five seconds. Like I get it he is 2 and also 1. Maybe if our mc had some friends we could see how strange he is not merely be told ad nauseam.

The story is wandering - there doesn't seem to be anything driving the main character other than a vague impression of forward momentum. There are a number of spelling, capitalization, and grammatical errors. There are wildly too many commas.
This doesn't seem to have a plot? Or at least it reads as more of a list of daily tasks than a story - nothing has really happened in the space that I read.

I don't know where the story's trying to go. Nothing happens, and the mc chores aways. Both writing and grammar are also fairly lacking. I'm no grammar nazi, and the author's writing does convey the intent well, but just the intent. It's clear that the author doesn't have a good grasp over the use of the English language. Not the best, but certainly can be better, if only the author bothered to use AI tools like ChatGPT for some superficial proofreading or something. If only they bothered...
