Sometimes, when the seas rise, the ground quakes, the air burns, and fire falls from the sky, everyday heroes rise to save the world.

Astrophysicists said the rogue asteroid would miss Earth by the narrowest of margins. They couldn't destroy it; any attempt would break it into hundreds of state-sized chunks rocketing toward Earth. People around the globe waited to see if they were right, preparing for meteor storms, record tides, or catastrophic weather.

Some people hid in bunkers. Others knelt in places of worship for marathon prayer sessions. On the roof of a small hospital's roof in Central New Jersey, a group of friends met to watch the pretty lights from the tallest building in town.

None of them were ready for an orbital bombardment targeting any building larger than a few stories, inflicting severe anemia on all but a handful of people in the world, but giving that handful, including a group of friends on a small hospital’s roof, the power to save the world.

Interesting cast so far, interesting worldbuilding is there too, so im exited for the future of the story.
The story is multi-PoV and brings us relativly fast into the main circumstances.

A very ambitious story where earth is clobbered by Aliens or Gods, we don’t know which yet. Any Advanced Technology like Spaceships, Planes, helicopters, medical radiation, etc. is reduced to scrap. A few people are somehow singled out to be gifted powers. Some of these people have simple powers like strength, some have very odd or strange ones like Beauty or wings. The one thing in common is all these people now have Blue Blood.
The story presents separate threads of seemingly random people who, I’m certain, with be woven together to get to the final stage. The problem is someone will be introduced in a chapter and not be touched again for 2-4 chapters. Which at one chapter a week can be a month and you will have forgotten who they were. If you’re a new reader, binge reading the full set of chapters is the best way to enjoy this story.
The grammar is very good with few misspellings. The author has a very readable, breezy style which I rate excellent. The characters are presented well and have their own voices. The only issue with the story is the weekly nature of Royal Road. If you like apocalypse stories, I recommend this!
