NEW ROYAL ROAD STORYthatisn'tstubbed!
Blood is life and life is magic.
At the age of six, Kizu was kidnapped and raised by a crone living deep in a tropical basin. Rescued ten years later, he returned to his negligent parents and former childhood life only to discover his older sister both disowned and missing.
After his homecoming, his parents quickly signed him up for Wave Edge Academy. Three years behind every other student his age, he was ranked as the overall worst student in the academy. To discover the answers about his blood sister, Kizu must climb the rankings.
There will be blood. There will be curses. There will be academia.
(Think Harry Potter school setting with D&D inspired magic...with a bloody twist)

- paradigmblueRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Under the veneer of a typical Magical Academy story lurks a tale with hidden depths. While the breezy descriptions of magic classes and relationships between students are the familiar, comforting fare that readers have come to expect from the genre, the store is so much more than that.
This is not only a magical academy story, but also a detective story, and our main character is constantly on the search for clues to a dark mystery.
Our main character is complex, and manages to be likeable despite their sometimes antisocial tendencies. There is a vein of unresolved trauma in their story, and I look forward to seeing them come to grips with their abduction and abuse as a young child.
The author writes in an easy-to-follow, straight-forward style, absent of any purple prose. This keeps the story moving forward at a page-turning pace without being bogged down by pages of exposition or florid description.
Grammatically the story is rock-solid, and it's clear the author has a keen command of the English language, with none of the amateur mistakes that plague most stories on Royal Road.
It's a cracking read, and I encourage you to give it a shot! - IncognitoQuestgiverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been debating for a while whether or not to leave a review on this story. While I really have enjoyed it, last time the author wrote a story she took a long hiatas before finally finishing it. Which was really annoying. She mentioned in one of her comments that she has a backlog of chapters this time. And she also has a more strict release schedule than before. So here I am, being a shmuck and leaving a review. (watch, as soon as I post this, she'll probably go on like an eight year hiatus lmao).
It's very much a Harry Potter kind of story. If you're looking to scratch that itch, this is for you. (Better than some actual published Harry Potter clones I've read). It keeps the spirit of the genre without getting too troupey or following the same stories. But it also has power scaling and ranks within the school. I'm interested to see what she does with it.
I like the fact that we got to the magic school quickly (though I notice already the pace seems to be slowing down a bit. But that's fine). I like the faster pace in comparision with her last story (The Last Topaz).
I like the animal companion
The side characters are growing on me. There is a pretty big cast but I'm able to keep track without too much difficulty. And the main character has a clear modivation after like the third or forth chapter. Find his sister. I like that it's not like a finding yourself kind of story that meanders around aimlessly.
I'm interested to see how the magic works. Right now it seems like a lot of different things at play at once. I'm worried she's juggling too much, but honestly, it's not a huge deal to me if she drops one or two balls out of like nine later down the road.
Grammer is fine. I haven't noticed anything. Author said this is only her second draft but it looks pretty good for that. Maybe chop up some long sentences and shit. But idk. I'm not a writer. And it I think it looks good so far. - Jolenes_Bizzarre_AvdentureRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This reminds me of a Saturday morning cartoon meets my favorite fantasy series.
Any shortcomings I find in the ongoing story don't detract from the fresh (yet, in a way, nostalgic) feeling I get from reading chapter to chapter. Give it a chance and you'll be pleasantly surprised by how much fun you'll have. - krobinson21359Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story combined two of my favorite genres into one. I read a lot of the same books or have read similair things in the past, but this is different and it is a very good read. Give it a chance! If you are on the fence about reading this story, trust me, you'll enjoy it!
- log SRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fantastic book!!! I cannot wait to read more books from this series! I am an avid fantasy fiction reader and this author has created a world both familiar and unique. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and magic. I give it a 10/10. The plot is amazing, the writing is great, and each chapter keeps you wanting more!
- Lucian T. EinarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0**Overall:**
BLOOD CURSE ACADEMIA seamlessly combines two beloved genres into a captivating and refreshing narrative. Readers who love the Harry Potter-like school setting and detective-like stories will find themselves engrossed in this unique blend.
**Style:**
The story's style is, as said by another reviewer "reminiscent of a Saturday morning cartoon infused with elements of classic fantasy." I really agree with that comparison!
It offers a nostalgic yet fresh reading experience. Despite minor flaws in the ongoing plot, or at least mentioned by some other readers in the reviews/comments, the story's charm and fun factor remain intact, making it a delightful journey.
**Story:**
In a world filled with magic, BLOOD CURSE ACADEMIA follows the protagonist, Kizu, as he embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about his missing sister. Set in a magical school, the story cleverly keeps pace with the magic school trope while introducing elements of power scaling and rank within the institution. With a clear motivation to find his sister, Kizu's journey is driven by purpose, avoiding aimless wandering.
**Grammar:**
The story maintains a solid grammatical foundation, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable reading experience. The author's command of the language shines through, elevating the overall quality of the narrative. I gotta say, I'm not particularly good at finding grammar errors or plotholes, so for me, everything looks alright.
**Character:**
BLOOD CURSE ACADEMIA introduces a diverse cast of characters, each with their own quirks and contributions to the story. While the large ensemble may seem daunting to some people, the author skillfully keeps readers engaged and able to follow the characters. The protagonist's quest is motivated by a deep desire to find his sister, adding an emotional layer to the story. Additionally, the story hints at unresolved trauma, promising character growth in the future.
In summary, BLOOD CURSE ACADEMIA offers a fresh take on the magical acad - Nathan Randall HoltRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0While there are some dark parts of the story, like Kivu's abduction by a witch, it looks very much like a story in which friendship triumphs. It's mostly set in a magic school that brutally ranks students by comparing them to each other, but many of the school administrators are surprisingly kind. In addition to learning magic, Kivu's efforts to find his sister give the story direction. While the magic school is an international institution, a great deal of bigotry remains, and I suspect dealing with it will become an important part of the story. I love the friends that Kivu makes and I'm eager to see where the story goes from here.
- Alis451Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Good world building, neat magic, ok character development... questionable editing. Some very odd word choices that seem to be a simple spell check replace without actually looking at it, otherwise good grammer.
This book feels like it has just enough intrigue to keep you interested, but not too much to be offputting and also isn't so deep in the education aspect. - Locnav LivocRoyal Road★ 1.0child: mom, i want harry potter
mother: we have harry potter at home
harry potter at home: blood curse academia.
i think that the author wanted to portray that some people are bad; but they were SO exagerated it becomes absolutely ridiculous. imagine walking down the street and telling people "you suck!"
