Description

On the fringes of human controlled space in the distant future, a weathered scientist carries out the thankless task of creating complex artificial entities— AI. Humanity needs and fears their greatest creations in equal measure, because without AI they will never travel the stars again.

A team of Mercenaries, led by a demolitions expert calling herself Princess, has been tasked with bringing critical components, along with themselves, to a space station secreted within a debris field left over from a galaxy spanning war, The Synthetic Revolution. When the job's darker nature surfaces, the team will have to contend with killer robots, an unhappy client and the lingering scars of wars both recent and long past in order to finish their contract with their lives and their pay.

Birth Of An AI is a masterpiece of marvel, tackling the topic of AI and so much more, with the intellect, intelligence and insight brought to bear by the pen strokes of an artist.
Story - We are plunged headlong into future space travel after the Synthetic Revolution, journeying with Princess and her rag-tag band of mercenaries paid to deliver a mysterious package to the Client. The philosophy espoused by the author in this fiction is applicable to the fact of today - and tomorrow. This is a tale both entertaining and educational, a blend of the best of both worlds. An eerie feeling descended as I read - a vision executed by a gifted author or a harbinger of things to come or both? Much to wonder, and plenty to ponder.
Style - Meticulous detail richly sprinkled into a visual feast pulled me right into this amazing world. I could visualize every feature on a face, hear every nuance of a voice, comprehend the diverse attitudes of the vividly-alive characters. I relished getting into the skins, or rather under the heavy armor, of these splendidly-crafted characters as the plot thickened.
Character - I reveled in the exquisite prose, with deft descriptions forming fleshed-out, three-dimensional characters in my mind, as tangible as those around me. I could feel the presence of Princess as she narrated her viewpoint, could hear the tensions running through her, relayed by her mesmerizing voice. All the characters followed suit with a captivating presence.
Grammar - Impeccably-crafted prose. Narrative and dialogue flow naturally, befitting the circumstances as the story unfolds.
Overall - Swirling in the imagery and beautiful build of suspense invoked by the talented author in this outer space adventure is a profound debate concerning human autonomy, technology, and scientific morality. I highly recommend this gem to read for all who believe in the preservation of our humanity.
