Description

" Forever blessed, be the name of our hero."

" Forever grateful, be the people he saved."

" Forever devoted, be us, his descendants."

" So that we, the Salviga, remain humanity's protector until the end of time."

These are the words that every member of the Salviga clan is taught from birth to take to heart. Descending from a hero chosen by the gods and having inherited his superhuman abilities, its people have existed from the ancient times to the modern era onward, acting as the world's biggest entity. Its people have been involved in the matters surrounding all of the continents since the dawn of time and have thus massive influence over every corner of the entire planet. In a never-ending cycle, the children they raise are expected to carry on the legacy and power of the ones before them, as they are destined to be the next rulers to come.

Once a member of the clan reaches the age of 15, they are sent over to the world outside their clan to experience the world of the ordinary and grow to be fully fledged adults.

Now, eight Salviga children will embark on this journey to experience the world outside their clan. A world that, to them, is entirely foreign.

The author has written a fun story about a bunch of characters attempting to enter into society. It uses 1st person tense and I think is all the better for it because it is a coming of age story. Our protagonists find themselves on a plane that lands in a mysterious new world that they have been recruited to explore.
It's a slow burn but one I enjoy as the characters are likeable and the world interesting. I am eager to find out more about what their goals are and the history of the setting. The grammar is above average for the site with only a few mistakes.
    Praise Kaim!

Style: The author describes the important stuff well. Character appearances, interactions, locations, etc.
Grammar: There is a few issues with typos here and there, but nothing that ruins the reading experience.
Story: By the end of chapter 1, there isn't much of a story, only some setups for future character arcs and events. Our characters are ready to enter human society on prologue, then the next chapter its about a week ago. We got some interesting bits of lore, like Divian's lack of knowledge of the Salviga stuff, the Izel and Louis relationship and the research institute.
Character: Taking the description into account, there will be eight main characters in this story. However, not all of them were that developed and properly introduced.
Mael and Zyana's friendship are probably the highlight of this tale. The author does a good job at establishing their bond. It's quite cute.
Louis is also a very intriguing character. I wonder how his relationship with Izel and the nobles of the Salviga clan.
Overall, it's a solid start. The pacing may not be all that great, but there's a great story brewing, I can feel it.
Give this story a chance. You won't regret it.

Overall score - Once polished, the story has much potential, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the world it creates. The dynamics of the clan and royal families are interesting and well-crafted. The author is passionate and that translates into the text.
Style score - I think the author should trust the reader and themselves more when it comes to the character’s tone. There is quite a bit of intent behind dialogue being repeated when the words already establish it.
I think first person present tense might be a more challenging choice for the story, but not impossible to execute with a few revisions.
Grammar Score - There are a few mistakes here and there, but nothing major.
Story Score - The story promises to be very good. Obviously, the author has planned this out and created the world thoughtfully and with attention to detail. Although by the end of Chapter 1, we do not see the events unfold, the author does acknowledge that it is a slow-burn story. The world-building does stand out as it is interesting and builds a good idea of the families’ hierarchy and lineage.
Character Score - The main characters are introduced with a character sheet, which is a nice touch. The descriptions are brief and leave a lot of room for later development. They make the reader want to know why it is that Mael likes horror stories and why Zyana does not like romance. It promises to develop them, and we get a glimpse at their relationship toward the end of Chapter 1.
This story is interesting, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a large-scale adventure with good world-building.

Style (4/5): The writing style in Beyond the Root is vibrant, especially in its character interactions and world-building. The prose effectively captures the youthful energy of its protagonists, particularly in their dialogue and the playful dynamic between them. The author balances moments of light-hearted banter with heavier themes like responsibility and legacy. However, the descriptive sections occasionally slow the pacing, particularly in scenes where the setting feels underwhelming compared to the excitement of the characters.
Story (3.5/5): The plot of Beyond the Root is compelling, centered around the journey of a group of adolescents who must come to terms with their roles in a world designed by their predecessors. While the premise is strong—blending science fiction with coming-of-age themes—the early parts of the story feel slow due to the characters' initial sense of disillusionment with their surroundings. As the novel progresses, the story deepens with mysteries surrounding the island and the true purpose of the characters' mission, though some readers may find the buildup too gradual.
Character Development (4.5/5): The standout feature of Beyond the Root is its character development. Each member of the group is distinctly crafted, with unique personalities, strengths, and flaws. Zyana’s uncontainable excitement contrasts with Mael’s seriousness, while Eloy’s strictness creates tension within the group. As the characters face challenges, their growth is evident, particularly as they balance their individual desires with the expectations placed on them by their clan. The relationships between the characters are a highlight, creating emotional stakes that resonate deeply.
Grammar (4.5/5): The grammar and mechanics of the writing are generally well-executed, with minimal errors. Sentence structure is varied and keeps the narrative flowing. Occasionally, there are moments where dialogue feels a little stilted or repetitive, but overall, the writing is clea
