- Midnight phantom GODRoyal Road★★★ 3.0So here are my thoughts on this novel. First of all, I kind of enjoyed it so far. The world-building is well done, the grammar and tone are good, and there's a lot of tension in the story. The protagonist doesn't have much time to adjust to his newfound fortune before encountering challenges from other people.
However, there's one aspect that I dislike. According to the story, the main character was a slave for seven years, and his masters were not kind. He had to fend for himself during that time, and he developed a hot-headed nature. In my opinion, people who have gone through such trauma should understandably have trust issues with new individuals. I can understand his behaviour encountering the avatar, as the avatar's power level seems exceptionally high even for higher worlds. Any being lower than him should naturally feel inferior, especially considering the main character is in a lower world and is just a mortal.
But the way he interacts with the girl is a disappointment to me. Even after discovering that she has impure intentions towards him, it irks me that he continues to act in a foolish manner. He could easily become her slave, and given her personality, she would likely order him to protect her while she runs away. It shows a lack of judgment on his part. If in future chapters, the main character maintains this type of personality and doesn't become more ruthless with her, especially now that she has become his slave, then I believe the story will suffer extremely. If the contract between them can be removed, I will not continue reading the novel. When the contract was formed, the otherworldly entity was enraged and vowed to make her suffer for a lifetime while changing the dynamics of the master and slave part saving the dumb MC, and also probably adding some other stuff too, (I would prefer if the context changed to, 'for eternity' for the last part of the dialogue avatar said), indicating that the contract may be unbreakable.
