Beneath the astral veil

Description
Alex is just an average guy, too much imagination, too many daydreams, and a questionable habit of diving into obscure Reddit threads. Astral projection? Probably a hoax. But when he actually manages to slip out of his body one night, he realizes reality is far stranger, and far more dangerous, than he ever imagined.
There are seven realms of existence, each governed by energy, power, and an ancient system beyond human understanding. Lost and overwhelmed, Alex gets the fancy title of “ Ascendant” and encounters Velarion, a guardian spirit who takes him under his wing, revealing the secrets of unanchored worlds, places where the astral started to overwhelm the physical world, filled with both danger and opportunity.
As Alex pushes deeper into these forgotten realms, he unlocks new skills, battles corrupted monsters and discovers just how small his old world truly was. But strength comes at a cost, and the more he learns, the more he realizes that looking beyond the veil comes at a price and some things were never meant to be seen.

- Aether NovakRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0HEY it's a great straight-up LitRPG, with all the stats and interfaces you love if you're a fan of the genre!
BUT! It's also good as a story without those elements. The writing is strong and propels the reader from one chapter to the next, seamlessly. It makes it difficult to stop reading. I'm at work and had to stop myself from continuing during my meeting!
The author is already obviously good at writing, possibly already a professional, and knows what makes the genre work here. While this is Litrpg, it’s also a lot of other things: action, progression, all the good stuff we’re here for.
The Astral Projection angle is solid, and frankly I'm surprised I don't see it used more in the genre. It fits perfectly. Reminds me a little of Doctor Strange, but amped up and tactically useful, and kind of vicious when properly used.
The creatures and gods are cool, the MC is a determined dude, and it's everything I want from LitRPG. I hope one day the author makes this into an Audiobook presentation, as the character Valerion is fun. He's a harried god-being who has a lot on his plate. I sympathize.
I love when Royal Road has bookstore-quality stuff that would make it on to bestseller lists, or will, when the story is finished and the author gets their due.
READ IT! - DarkseidwildeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I just finished reading the first chapter of Beneath the astral veil, and I'm already hooked. As a fan of litRPG novels, I was excited to dive into this new series, and I wasn't disappointed.
The first chapter introduces us to our protagonist, Alex a relatable and likable hero who finds himself linked to an astral system. The author does a great job of setting the stage for the story, providing just enough information to make us invested in the upcoming protagonist's journey.
One of the things that stood out to me was the author's writing style, which is engaging and easy to follow. The pacing is well-balanced, with a good mix of action, dialogue, and exposition.
The world-building, although still in its early stages, shows promise. The author has clearly put thought into creating a rich and immersive world( astral realm)with its own unique mechanics and rules.
Of course, since I've only read the first chapter, it's hard to say for sure how the rest of the story will unfold. But based on this promising start, I'm excited to see where the author takes us.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Beneath the astral veil to fans of litRPG novels. With its engaging writing style, relatable protagonist, and immersive world, it's shaping up to be an epic adventure.
I'll be continuing to read and review this novel as I progress through the chapters. - scrigastRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very cool story, I hope it's picked up again
"All our lives we sweat and save
Building for a shallow grave
Must be something else, we say
Somehow to defend this place
Everything must be this way
Everything must be this way"
- The Doors, The Soft Parade - Kelly.bRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I didn't do a review up to this point because I was waiting for a proper astral projection adventure.
The idea of unanchored worlds is pretty unique and has a dungeon feel to it with a unique take but the story around chapter 30 took the path I was waiting for! So I'm raising my rating to 4.5 stars
