Description

When Anika's son tells her that he has joined an e-sports team and will be playing full-time in a popular VRMMORPG, she starts to panic. There are reports of players leaving the game in very poor health, needing months of physical and mental rehabilitation.

Her attempts at contacting him from outside the virtual world are unsuccessful, so she is left with only one option if she intends to find him and talk some sense into him. She will have to sign up for an account and enter the game herself.

The question remains if she will be able to find her son before it is too late...

Alright first i rarely enjoy female mcs i in general dont even try to read them because the authors view point. Is not fun to read...
Now this little story... is fun... i ended up reading way past my bedtime when i only intended to read 3 chapters then go to sleep.
The story flows well. The main character is relatable it does not feel forced. Everything feels like a realistic react.
No one is over powered hulking superheros.
Im not a gamer howerever i enjoy these tails. Where there little push to shove stats at you and have you do math because Β the author made a messup
This is a pure fun story to read.

Keep in mind I just read the first five chapters before I had to put this down.
None of the characters felt really fleshed out, it relies heavily on the whole mother loves son dynamic to the point where it breaks immersion.
The main character lacks a fair bit of common sense, and I think it says a lot that she was going to buy him a 8k gift for his 18th birthday. Like what? He's clearly spoiled and probably why he has no respect for her.
As the story went on I lost all respect for the mom and since I already despised the kid it left me with no reason to keep reading.
Grammar is okay, a few bits of awkward phrasing and a lot of it is telling rather than showing but overall it was average. Wasn't noticeably horrible.
The pacing isn't done well and there really isn't any tension aside from annoyance at the characters. The chapters are also extremely short. The world building done for the initial game chapters was near 0 so I couldn't even be interested in the world since the characters were so disappointing.
The premise has potential but I feel like I can't force myself to keep reading to find out since I don't care what happens to the characters. I'm sure the problems will clear up as the writer writes more, but for now, this story is not for me.

As of chapter 19: The biggest problems here are the plot holes and the poor characterization. There's a new plot hole in almost every chapter and the mom is definitely a case of "tell don't show." We're supposed to believe that she's a hapless non-gamer that's flung herself into an unfamiliar world in a desperate (and without severe amounts of contrivance, impossible) quest to find her son. What we actually get is a sociopath that's perfectly happy to murder anyone or anything she encounters, is far, far too good at the game for a noob, far too bad at it for someone who's read the things she supposedly has, and who is not nearly as concerned about her son as she should be given the things she has personally experienced from the game. At this point, it really just feels like she's telling herself that she wants to find her son so that she'll have a reason to keep playing the game, which would be fine if that was the author's intent, but I don't believe it is.
