Beast King now a Mage
Community Rating
Description
A mammoth of a man a cultivator comparable to the Beast Kings of nature joins a gathering of other regional leaders and powerhouses for dinner. He didn’t care much about the topics to be discussed as he came simply for the alcohol and food and to see a few old friends. However, he noticed some of those friends slumping out of their chairs and falling to the ground. Before he could really understand exactly what was happening his body grew weak and he was helpless. The Beast King was betrayed. His drink had been poisoned, and now his old friend Zhou crazed and delusional walked ever closer with his sword dripping with blood.
Death from poison? That was offensive, he’d always imagined his death in battle. His head was detached from his body as his life flashed before his eyes. His consciousness entered the void and slowly faded away eaten away with time but then he heard some sort of crying. Was it an ancestor waiting for him?
A giant red-haired female monster grabbed him! Where am I?
Slow burn. Our MC starts off as a baby so his rise to power is slow and steady.

- Kay'oRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the story. Keep up the good work.
The story so far (minor spoilers): A Wuxia cultivator getting isekied into a western mage world. Large scale political conflict goes hot and the mc is on his grind to avoid losing his family.
Mc: not cringe, not psychopath, not hippie. Overall pretty reasonable and entertaining.
Supporting cast: not one dimensional, pretty realistic and seem like actual people.
Overall it's a pretty fun story. I hope it gets more attention, and that the author will post more. - lolman159Royal Road★★★★ 4.0The author has taken my suggestion to edit the chapters into much more readable form, so please, give this one a shot! The story itself is no masterclass in isekai fantasy, but it is certainly a great story compared to some of the others available, there is no "I reincarnated, and suddenly I'm casting tier 10 spells, willy-nilly" or "I reincarnated, but for some reason every woman around is throwing themselves at me, I hate it" going on here. just a muscle-brained martial artist learning magic.
- MonadologistRoyal Road★★ 2.0For the first fifteen chapters or so it holds together as a slice of life tale that keeps flitting away from the first person perspective of the protagonist to first person perspectives if those around him to ooh and ahh at how powerful he is.
The next 20 chapters or so zoom out away from that and deal with the kingdom as a whole and larger-scale events, and I think the story suffers for it. The protagonist himself becomes a footnote in his own story, and the tone goes all over the place.
There are a lot of grammar mistakes and the constantly switching first person perspectives make it difficult to follow who 'I' am at any given moment in the tale. It could use a solid editing pass, and maybe some framing device or dividers to tell the reader when the perspective shifts within a chapter.
