    innocent boy x shifter romance
Like a brutal fairy tale, grim happenings and abusive step family lock up the innocent protagonist until he's swept up by his rescuer. It's more complicated than that of course, but I am tempted to stop at Ch 14 with a happy little sigh and "they lived happily ever after"
The story has every sign of continuing to be satisfying. On a backdrop of luxury, with nobles casually abusing their power and the lower classes snubbing the poor boy just for not fitting in, we feel the order in this world without big exposition dumps. There's detail in the character interactions that show care, or lack of, and their social stigmas. Anyway I'm just saying even if the story fell apart in the next chapter I could leave it here and be satisfied. Now that they're heading out into the beastlands I'm curious to see what that society will be like and how they'll see the human

So far I am loving this book. If your like me, and looking for a story that gives respect to the topic of discrimination of a race/species then this book is ready and waiting to be read :D.
The story doesn't downplay the feelings and perspective of the ones oppressed, while painting a picture of actions taken from their side of how things could have been better if there wasn't time wasted on wishing for the eradication of their species. With a bit of satisfaction of fuck around and find.
Though the main character is human, the story doesn't try to make him be being human downplay the discrimination. More like a perspective of someone who don't know a good amount of details but can sniff bullshit from the propaganda he hears from tike to time, while he learns more of what actual happen.
The romance is a adorable, sweet, and it surely add some insight into the love at first sight.
The first couple chapters are something you may need to emotionally prepare for since it has scenes of abuse, r*pe, and would make you want to kill some characters while feeling miserable for what the main character iz going through. But, the good thing I suppose is that it isn't written with the intent of having you sit through a tragedy. More like paint a clear picture of where you can point your anger to while wanting the best for the main character.
All in all, this story feels lovely for the peace of mind after reading and dropping stories that feels like it's trying to tell me atrocities aren't that bad
