But when a diplomatic mission on a remote Gue’la world ends in slaughter, the Fire Caste is forced to step in. What should have been a simple pacification becomes something far darker as towering, archaic war machines tear through Tau defenses, and Mira and his sept are forced to confront the brutal reality of humanity’s zealotry.

As battle looms, Mira soon learns that war is nothing like the simulations that shaped him. The enemy’s ancient machines refuse to die, and on this distant world, the Greater Good demands sacrifice. Because duty is simple, Mira realizes—but survival is not.
