- Frankie ChengRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm liking the story so far. Supernatural detective story is a genre that's been done before, but in my opinion, there can always be more! Especially if there is LGBT representation.
The characters, especially the main, are interesting, and there's clearly a fair bit of lore hidden behind the text. Hints of religions, cultural norms and language are always welcome to me when the story is set in an alternate universe. I do love me some soft world-building.
I noticed that every 'paragraph' is essentially one sentence long. Perhaps you might want to mix the paragraph length up a bit? As it is, the single sentence to a paragraph style is somewhat choppy to read and doesn't flow nicely. Save those kinds of paragraphs for fast-paced action.
Also, there are a few typos scattered about. It's especially noticeable when character names keep changing or are misspelt. I've noticed Stephenson/Stephanson and Campbell/Cambell that I can give as examples off the top of my head.
I really like the tone of your writing. The matter-of-fact, almost sarcastic style seems to tickle a certain part of my brain and I'm really enjoying it.
I'm adding this one to my Follow list and looking forward to the rest of the story.
