Series: Book 1

Blurb: Faylin, a local blacksmith and warrior, takes her best friend Lyrian, a geomancer mage out to find a mine to dig for minerals that Faylin desperately needs. However evolution is changing, and flightless dragons in all shapes and sizes roam the outside lands. They terrorize wood elves. Current species of animals are becoming prey. Evolution was interrupted. New magic is found.

Someone has brought back an extinct species, a long forgotten species of beasts that only very few alchemists know about. Faylin, Lyrian and their new found friend must find out what source of necromancy this is.

Goal reached - Hatsune Miku Celtic Metal cover of Ievan Polkka released in chapter 25!

2nd goal:

200 followers [   ]

And I will release the first celtic fantasy song for the story itself with a slight tropical twist for the beginning of the story! Song is in WIP as we speak.

What to expect:

-This is a light novel so images are at the end of each chapter!

-No stereotypical dinosaurs

-Historically accurate dinosaurs or at least as much as it can get, (I am not a paleontologist and sometimes there are story purposes but only if it's necessary).

-Character development, and emotional moments.

Future plans: If this does good, I'll turn this into a visual audiobook with my own music and sound effects for YouTube!

Chapters are randomly posted. I tried running a schedule one time but it made my mind go absolutely crazy so I apologize but I need the time to make quality content. But chapters are posted!

Considering the Warning: AI assisted does not mean generated and spammed. I use NovelAI where I write with an AI and there are times when it writes and times where I write. I use this because I overthink, and struggle with, confusion and writers block, a lot. My mind was fried during a dark time so my memory and stress levels are bad. This helps me get over it by writing the tricky parts that would normally make me go insane. Otherwise if this didn't exist, I would not be a writer and would not have come back after years of quitting writing and focusing on music. It would be too much for me to handle and I would not get anything done and destroy myself from burnout. I already had to quit art and cannot hire an artist because I do not have money. At least 60% of this is written by me and probably more if you count editing. This is my idea, my characters and my personalities that I have thought of without any AI involved in the general idea. I hope you can appreciate my honesty, it's okay to use AI for humane purposes and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise! Thank you for the understanding! Hope you can enjoy!

Arcane Engine: Wrath of Extinction is a gripping fantasy adventure about Faylin, a blacksmith struggling against oppression while uncovering a mystery involving extinct creatures. The story is rich in atmosphere, with detailed worldbuilding and strong character dynamics. However, the pacing and flow could be improved for a smoother reading experience.
Faylin is a well-written protagonist with a strong personality, moral struggles, and a relatable desire for independence. Her exhaustion, bitterness, and determination make her feel authentic, and her dynamic with Lyrian brings warmth and humor to the narrative. Lyrian himself is a solid supporting character, providing a balance between recklessness and loyalty. However, the secondary characters could benefit from more distinctive voices and unique traits to make them stand out further.
The setting is intriguing, especially the dwarven kingdom of Bogh Buldar. The inclusion of dinosaurs is unique, but they could play a larger role in the world’s daily life. More details on magic, politics, and society would make the world even richer.
The pacing is sometimes inconsistent. Some scenes, such as the blacksmithing sequences, are immersive but overly long, while others—like the mine escape—rush through key moments that should build suspense. Dialogue-heavy scenes sometimes slow the story.
Since dinosaurs are a big part of the story, it would be great to see them have more impact on daily life, travel, or warfare. More interactions with these creatures would make the setting even more exciting.
This story has great potential. With better pacing, deeper worldbuilding, and smoother flow, it could be even stronger.
I loved the premise, keep going! 🔥
