Description

ArborVoid is a cosmic science-fantasy epic set in a multiverse on the brink of collapse. When a silent catastrophe fractures the laws of reality, scientist Emma Forrest Discovers WoodDust, a metaphysical energy entwined with the fate of all creation. As dimensions fall to void-entities, corrupted gods, and conceptual predators, Emma must confront not only her enemies—but the role she was never meant to play.

From Earth’s last stand to realms beyond narrative itself, ArborVoid blends high-concept worldbuilding with emotional depth, unraveling the thin line between destiny, divinity, and annihilation.

Arborvoid takes the reader on a wild ride. Starting with an alien invasion the stakes only get bigger and bigger. Every time one external threat is overcome the next is right around the corner with often multiple threats to Earth and Emma appearing simultaneously.
The nature of the threats span from alien armies to true cosmic horror. I won't spoil it here, but GrayXiX truly captures how threatening the infinite expanse of space can be.
The universe is fascinating with interesting alien civilizations and secret lore tucked away around every corner.
If you're looking for an intense sci-fi that gives similar vibes to books like The Three Body Problem then this is a must read!
On the more critical side the story struggles with pacing in my opinion. Every chapter is non-stop threats with extinction always on the horizon. The odds are always impossible and it almost always feels hopeless until it's not.
While this makes it exciting it also gets in the way of character development as almost every chapter is dedicated to surviving the imminent threat there isn't as much time to flesh out the characters and have them have any time to see their personalities or aspirations beyond their duty.
Some chapters are also unfortunately repetitive with very similar discussions being rehashed between characters multiple chapters in a row. Small spoiler, but one example of this is when Marcus repeatedly tries to convince Emma to run away from Earth and she ignores him only for the same discussion to happen six or seven more times without ever really reaching a satisfying resolution.
So overall a very interesting read, but it would be nice for the crew to get some downtime and explore their abilities and see conversations beyond quick banter.
