Apocalypse King: Progression System LitRPG

Description
Hail, Apocalypse King!
A LitRPG where the MC fights the System Apocalypse Invaders with military training, dark magic, and a Humanity, Fuck Yeah attitude!
Hounded by trauma from combat and his childhood upbringing, Sergeant DeSean Solomon left the U.S. Marines and attends college alone. While at a house party, the world as DeSean knows it ends. All of humanity receives a System notification.Do you wish to be saved from the taint of chaos?
A countdown starts. Time is of the essence. To say yes will transform you into a monstrous zealot controlled by a genocidal eldritch invader. To say no is to be marked for the slaughter and forced into a high-stakes and vicious survival game. Even with the introduction of system progression stats, magical powers, and contracts with otherworldly creatures, all signs point toward the earth and its people getting subjugated. Or suffering a worse fate.
Unless DeSean has a say in it.
When the end of the world comes knocking, it's not a hero or someone with a special bloodline that rises to the occasion. It's a slightly demented Marine Veteran who storms the breach, summoning demons, evoking dark magic, and using all of his military skills and System Skills to bring down the enemy.

- Blacklark57Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not usually a fan of Earth-based RPG stories, but this one is really well done. It hits hard right from the first chapter, then just keeps on hitting. Isn't shy about the gritty realities of what would happen if a system suddenly imposed itself over our world. Plus the whole "who are the real bad guys" angle adds a nice edge to the story.
The characters were a little hit-or-miss for me, at least so far, but after a couple of chapters I feel like they're all meshing pretty well. The MC is well-fleshed out tho, and I really like how he actually has some real-world experience that's applicable to the situation, rather than just learning what he needs to know via the system.
Writing is mostly solid, with only a few areas that might need touching up on later passes. Some sections feel a little drawn-out for the sake of filling the page, but nowhere in the chapters I've read so far did it feel like the pacing was slow. The author does a good job of jumping smoothly back between system progression and telling an actual story.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this is going. - EmperorDarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is fuckin awesome so far. I hope it continues for a long while. I want to see MC and his crew turn into a complete badass unit. I want to see how they eventually impact the status of the hell princess hierarchy and the war against the heavens.
- Quix-AnvilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Man against the world willing to kill all those who f$$$ed with his home and making deals with the devil like it a first date with a old crush love the story keep wring man cause I am invested and won't stop reading until I know how it all ends and trust me I know it's gonna end with body parts a war zone and bad guys praying they never awake the monster known as the MC
- SecondToNoneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What a fortunate surprise this story is. The litrpg mechanics are there with a fun and unique class and magic system. Love the truly edgy, macabre vibes of the MC's class. Truly gruesome in all the good ways. The System is just well done and plays nicely with the very grounded apocalypse situation happening. Feels like real people dealing with a system apocalypse as best they can. Not like the ridiculous Manwha stuff you see sometimes. And so far, definitely not some crazy power fantasy where the MC can shatter reality with enough cultivation levels. Refreshing!
And the characters are great. It's nice to see so much actual tension and conflict between characters. Helps to make everyone more fleshed out. Actual normal human people are hard to come by on royal road. The MC is a little edgy and emo for me, but it adds to his charm. Especially in dialog in other characters.
Basically, this is one of the great ones, fellow readers. Read with abandon! - Shades98Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So let's talk about the book, a fight between the free thinkers vs the chosen. The chosen are members of the God of Light who wants obedience and Order vs the people who value Chaos or free thinking.
Our MC is an exMarine who has always believed in the occult and is a Hellion. He is trying to lead a ragtag group of people in Missouri to a portal to get off Earth before it is taken over by the God of Light. - HavokRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Seriously over the top edge, with a huge focus on demons. Basically angels bad, demons good. Mc is an edgy, goth, satanist, occultist, spike leather jacket wearing ex veteran marine (yeah this guy wears ghost rider like jackets to look cool). Yes it doesn't make all that much sense.
Good action scenes, wonderful grammer, relatable characters all round, although the speed at which people started trying to kill each other for no good reason was unreasonable, it was easily overlooked.
Mc made a lot of ridiculous choices as an ex marine in regards to stat fixing and it works for him cause he got a demon that can suddenly improve all the stats he didn't care about but desperately needed. Plot armor thicker than an M1 Abrahms tank. Then the MC/Writer focus on Satanism is pretty unsettling but can be shrugged off if you don't care. Now the whole trying to sound edgier than a 15year old after binge watching Twilight is just pure cringe.
If you can get pass all of that, then you've an adrenaline spiked mc with lots of action and cool fights that'll have you mind racing. Good tactics that makes you remember the mc was a former marine and a whole lot of blood.
