Steven isn’t willing to go through the apocalypse alone.
The apocalypse breaks the college sophomore out of a pit of apathy and into a world gone weird.
A dome covers the city of Anchorage, and bolts fall from the sky, twistingandchangingthe things they hit.
And the System…the System is odd. Its motives unknown, and its attitude ratherunique.
It does make one thing clear to everyone. They’re trapped in the city, and things are only going to get weirder.
But amid magic, rising factions, monsters, and a rather chatty System, Steven is sure of one thing.
He isn’t willing to go through the apocalypse alone.

- BladesunderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well, it's hard to review without going into the system, but spoilers are against the rules so let's start.
The writing style and quality is on par with RR standards, and consistent releases (so far) speak well for the long-term continuation of the book.
The character so far seems in line with RR's tastes.
The author's style is great, in the sense that his MC has a distinct voice that is, perhaps, the most important part of writing a survival novel. So in other words, the MC feels like a 'human', and his behaviour is consistent with his background setting up until the point where I've read.
I look forward to more chapters! - EinsteinguyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really strong worldbuilding. The author actually lives in alaska so a lot of the locations exist irl. I really like the representation of mental health, it feels real and not at all pandering. Magic system is really unique. I normally have a hard time getting into lit Rpgs because of mechanics, but this one is really easy to understand. Cant wait for more!
- VenomHazeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of my favorite spins on the usual System oriented stories. Instead of being based on stats, characters are given a class with a unique ability they continue to augment and customize as they progress.
The System actually has a personality (maybe multiple) that varies from person to person. From the MC having a ever contemplating system to another character's constantly using otaku language with an older woman, having the System be a character was a unique take that pays off.
If you're more interested in people doing things and being creative vs constantly upping stats, I'd recommend this.
It's so good I actually wrote a review to hype it! - lostBarbarianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is great in the way everything trying to be balanced and the author is doing a good job with keep people on their toes. I haven't found any bad plot holes and the characters aren't just masks or unliving instruments each one has a complex thought process and abilities. I haven't found anything wrong with the grammar and if their is I barely notice. So to make a long story short.... READ THE STORY.
- WesternShoreRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This book grips you right from the start. The opening draws you into the main character's mind as they experience the effects of synchronization in a really realistic way. It, also, sets the stage for how combat scenes work in the story and gives insight into the protagonist's thoughts and actions.
The characters in the protagonist's group are intriguing. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses, making their interactions feel genuine and refreshing, unlike typical characters in similar stories. The characters classes is also intresting because is not as predictable as one would expected. The buffer class has major disabilites making the character work for a way to ensure he can help forcing him to risk himself, the main attacker is also a dog making every fight feels realisticaly uncomfortable with the real fear that the good doggo will get hurt.
Also the comedy is really good.
While the story is strong, it might not suit readers who prefer Op and conflict oriented main characters. What stands out here is that the MC reacts to situations rather than seeking conflict, focusing on protecting their loved ones. It's a different angle that adds depth to the story. Even though the protagonist chooses defensive powers, they still shine in battles by supporting others and using clever thinking to change outcomes. - MarcusDeGabrielRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall an enjoyable story, I liked the magic system used, it can lead to some interesting things and improvisations. It was fun to see how each skill was utilised and how the System reacted differently for everyone.
The only thing I didn't like was the constant back and forth with the characters POV, don't get me wrong, they ARE interesting, but it's like trying to read ASOIAF again, even if they're all following the same story it's just a bit annoying. I was only really interested in Joshua and how he progressed, maybe 1 or 2 different POV's here and there, but their so constant it took away from the story a bit for me.
