Description

In a world where monsters exist and the violence and terror they inflict are a part of daily life, only the men and women endowed with extraordinary powers are capable of standing against them. For Charlene Devardem, the thought of gaining these powers, of becoming an essentia magician, was never something she expected to happen. Now that the opportunity dangles in front of her, she finds that she wants it. Not for the heroism, the fame, or even to follow in the footsteps of her two prodigy brothers. Charlene wants it simply because magic makes people beautiful. She will find that these abilities are more than she knew, that the people that exist in this different world are not kind or simple, and that she will have to be the one to change if she is to survive. Release Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Saturday Every week!

Style: well executed. Some paragraphs are kinda long, but it doesn't reslly bother since it is written interesting enough to make me want to read it. At least for me, long chapters at the start are boring, but I know it will turn into a strong point when the battles will start, so i am looking forward to it.
Story: while I haven't seen a lot since it's just the start, I felt the story is giving a decent background to the world. The unqiue power system of Essentia really got to me as I also enjoy using latin words for powers and the concept itself provides the stage for a variety of abilities which could lead to interesting battles. The setting is decent and as of now, the story has infinite potential depending on the author.
Grammar: there are some, but it's so negligable you won't notice unless you look hard. It's really good.
Character: i like having a female mc in action since it's rarer than a male one, and the interactions with her family and other characters are decent and make them believable. Definitely not two-dimensional. Although i still haven't grasped the mc's personality quite yet, you get one with quirks, that's for sure

I felt like the story was slowly reaching out its had to me, without my noticing, and than grabbing me and sucking me under into its world!!! Okay, that sounded intense. And this is not a horror story. What it is, is an awesome dive into an immersive tale. The writing style is really immersive, painting a clear picture with every scene. It’s like you’re right there with the characters, feeling what they feel, seeing what they see. The author uses vivid descriptions and sensory details that make the world come alive. It feels like every event is building up to something bigger, and I really like that. Felt like I bought a book off the shelf.Grammar-wise, felt solid and fairly distraction-free. If there were any minor issues, I didn't really notice them and they didn't pull me out of the story. But, alas, I'm no grammarian. The characters are well-developed and relatable. Their dialogue feels natural to their personalities. The author does a great job of showing their emotions and reactions through their actions and interactions.(Quick aside: Anyone else hate how we're supposed to rate grammar and style like we're some kind of professional English teacher? I mean, it's a story! It's a damn good story. All I know is that I enjoy it and nothing distracted me personally from that enjoyment. I wrack my brain to assess the pacing, style and flow... What do I know about grammar and why Oxford is so big on their commas... I digress.)Overall, it's a10 out of 10, Would Read. Highly recommend you check it out.

    >>>[ Advent of a Dragonfire is so far looking great! A lot of people have pointed out that the opening chapter was really long but since then the author has fixed that and divvied it up into three, which flow much smoother (Though there are still a few points for improvement here and there). I really liked how Charlene was introduced with the first person POV really giving us a great insight into what's going on in her mind and her ambitions. Which leads us on to the worldbuilding and mechanics of this story! It has a lot of unfamiliar terms built around it like [essentia] being a core piece of that. I feel like the introduction of these elements could've been handled a lot smoother, sometimes towards the beginning it does feel like characters are throwing around terms that we don't know the definitions of. Overall though these elements are unique and seeing Charlene's ambitions to becoming stronger mesh really well with these parts. The author has a great hand when it comes to painting a visual picture and I think that - overall - this is a story worth reading. There's a little choppiness between scene transitions that I think would've been either better handled as new chapters or just removing those little line separations but it isn't story breaking or anything like that more than it is a bit tedious. But outside of that, give this one a shot!]

Exceptionally well-written and engaging! Every chapter moves the plot forward while leaving plenty of space for character development and worldbuilding. The writing approaches, if not surpasses, the quality found in traditional publishing. A rare gem here on RR that you'd be remiss to pass up. Chapter 1 is longer than usual, but I thought the length was needed to fully introduce the world and characters. However, as a fan of TWI, I may be a bit biased.
Style: Nearly perfect. The prose and inner thoughts flow together seamlessly from the very start. Scenes jump off the page and are a breeze to visualize. A genuine delight to read...I couldn't stop!
Story: From simple farmlands to contests between nobility, there is a clear direction and destination planned out. Many secrets and hints are dotted about, teasing big reveals in the future. While intriguing, somehow none of that matters. Every chapter is interesting, even when it only contains basic training or other 'mundane' activities. There's always a sense that anything can, and will, happen at the drop of a hat. While much has happened in the first 150k words, there remains a vast amount left to discover.
Grammar: Very occasional typo or incorrect tense, practically flawless.
Characters: Multifaceted, unique characters fill the world. Every single one feels authentic down to their clothing choices. Charlene is a wonderful MC, perfectly walking the line between pathos and inspiration. It's very refreshing to read a character who is actually intelligent, instead of some broken ability or power masquerading as intelligence. My only critique is a lack of emotional resonance. The story truly is wonderful without it, but I found myself wishing for a bit more connection with the MC. If that were somehow incorporated, this story would rise to my top five of all time.
If you're still on the fence, please do give this story a chance. You will not be disappointed!

I thought the story and the ideas implied were very intriguing which made me want to know more. Although the descriptions can be a bit much the Author still does great at bringing life to the world and portraying characters. I like what was hinted at with the main character Charlene and the surrounding cast. The world had a unique system with the idea of bonding things to the soul that I felt were interesting.
Style: I think Author is very skilled. When the story picked up I felt it began to really shine and seemed to improve. There were some heavy descriptions but the Author did well at pacing this and keeping you interested. Overall I felt the style was great.
Story: This was the best part! The ideas and the system that was established really seemed to show promise and the things hinted at with the main character Charlene was very intriguing. The surrounding cast was done well and the world seemed to be coming alive as the story progressed.
Character: Charlene was characterized well and felt natural. The story is about growth so you could feel the character was still being built upon but what was shown was great. The implications that the story hinted at let you know that more amazing things were to come.
Grammar: I'm not the greatest at rating grammar but I can confidently say that not once did a grammar or punctuation mistake harm my reading experience. I felt the Author did great and the story was more than readable.

Do give this a try! This novel is about a girl who has two great older brothers and a nice family. The start is uphill, with their family’s situation getting better, and we see the protagonist join her second brother in his adventuring party.
Story - Interesting premise. I’ve always liked strong and supportive family tropes. Add to that how each person gets a unique 4th ability based on ‘themselves’ and three essences, which they can ‘also’ choose for themselves, really makes me love the power system.
Style - It’s present tense, not what I am used to but the author did well enough that I did not have much trouble reading.
Character - Great characterization. Even though not much could be shown in around 20k words which I read, it was still enough to set them apart and let me be able to imagine them concretely enough.
Grammar - English isn’t my first language so I don’t know if the mistakes I found were indeed mistakes. But only on a few instances do I feel myself pausing so not much issue there too.
Cons - It might be the present tense for me. So it would be more of an opinion than a con. Another thing was maybe the simplistic setting? I won’t go into the details here but it didn’t feel too out of the norm.
Conclusion - A must read for people who are not into testing novels. This is a safe ride, and would cater to a majority of readers imo.

The author's character writing is, in my opinion, phenomenal.Story: 4.5/5I'm not realy sure where the story is going as of chapter 7, though I'm sure it's going to lead to Charlie stumbling on a special opportunity and gaining really powerful abilities. But after that... I dunno. It hasn't really been hinted at or mentioned other than part of the blurb saying she'll go adventuring. Maybe something will happen to her brother and she'll have to go find him. Who knows. Still, for the arc that I'm in the path is crystal clear and very power progression.Grammar: 4/5Could probably use a read through by someone more experienced than me in writing first person present tense. I think there are some issues with using past perfect tense instead of just normal past tense, but if you're not someone who knows what the past perfect tense is then this isn't just not going to bother you at all anyways. Some rough sentences here and there that don't make sense or force you to make a leap of logic. I think the author will smooth those out as they're pointed out though.Style: 5/5Great. I'm not generally a fan of present tense but it worked really well with Sebastian's writing style. I don't think the story would have quite the same oomph without its usage of present tense. Don't really have much to say about this. Good job.Character: 5/5I saw some people mark the character score at 4/5 and that boggles my mind. Sure, maybe it could be improved with multiple layers of revisions and editing, but come on. For a webnovel? The characters are fantastically done and they're real. Some are nice, some are dicks, some are push overs - real. I can't wait to meet Corinth. Dude sounds like the ultimate badass.Overall: 5/5 great story! Wish dragons were introduced a little earlier though, but that's just my obsession with dragons talking I guess lol

Starting with Style, I have no complaints. Its nice, not out of this world but definitely still engaging. The the way characters talk is cool, the way the author describes stuff is cool... that is all I have to say. I like it.
With Grammar, I once again have no complaints. If there were any mistakes, I was too engaged with the the story to notice. So I would say that at least means there is nothing serious.
Story is really good. Not an epic like Mother of Learning or Lord Of The Rings, but the the events that happen are intriguing and promising. It starts off very typical, but I still found it engaging.
Character is where I wish it could have an extra star. It is SO GOOD. Which is crazy to think about, because I felt it was quite one-dimensional for a while into the story. But, it suddenly becomes so incredibly powerful! and is my favourite aspect of Advent Of Dragonfire.
Because of this, I would recommend this story to anyone. I love it so much and am so excited to see how the the characters develop, where the the story goes and how the the protag becomes more powerful, (and pretty!)

I couldn't help myself once I found this, and ended up reading the whole thing in about a week. The world is HUGE! I’m talking mega Earth, it feels like it’s the size of Jupiter, yet the Author makes it work, as we are focusing on a small part of the world for now. The main character is relatable, they having feelings like a normal person would, and she tries to see both sides of an argument. She starts afraid, yet with a backbone, and when she gets angry, the author does a fantastic job showing not telling.
The vast majority of LitRPG’s on this site follow 2D psychopathic anti hero’s that can never fail, and every villain they face is always deserving.
This story really diverts from the main path in that while it holds many similarities of the genre, stats/skills/nobles/monsters, they act more as a baseline to give the reader some familiarity while the story follows Charlene Devardum and her struggles.
There are many, many plot points already set up for future events, and the author helps feed the flames of what we want to see while showing immense character growth in not only the main character, but many of the other side ones we’ve come to see.
While many parts of the story are familiar to readers of the genre, the core premise is unique. The powers of magicians come from essentia, and any three can combine to form someone’s conflux, making near infinite combinations for the power. To give a reference, this reminds me of the story Shadow Slave in respects to the near limitless powers, and how reaching the next rank is not so easy.
I would highly, highly recommend this work to anyone enjoys this genre and is looking for more than just numbers and a hero complex. I’ve gone through and looked, and every negative review I’ve seen is when the reader stops before even 10 chapters. Give the story some time to develop, because once it gets going it is extremely fun and exciting.
Final note, I will admit sometimes the story does get too focused in the details. While this

First, I need to address what everyone's talking about when it comes to the long first chapter. Yes, it's long, and by Royal Road's standards where many first chapters barely strike the 1500 mark, it's massive.
However, it is separated into easily digestible chunks and if you give it a minute or two you will drawn into wanting to know more about the world and the lovable MC that it won't matter. I was at chapter 4 before knowing what hit me.
The story itself is great. It gives that coming-of-age feeling that is presented in a very refreshing way. The world is well fleshed out and comes to life almost immediately, and the system is easy to understand and very, very intriguing. Believe me, you will just want to know how things will progress once you get started.
To me the standout is the MC, which is a great thing considering the story is written in first person. She's easy to like, she acts her age, and most importantly, she has a LOT of room to grow. This world is a harsh place filled with death and monsters, and I can't wait to see how Charlie matures into herself and handles the challenges the world throws at her. There's something about a well-written character that makes me care deeply for them, and she is one.
The other characters are all distinct in their own way and don't feel like props for the MC to progress through the story. On the contrary. There are hints of complicated familial relationships, squabbles, and much more waiting to be revealed.
I found no issues with the grammar as the 1st person is handled amazingly well - enough to make me consider using this story as a reference when I practice.
The style is quite descriptive, but it doesn't weigh down the eyes and mind as much as it weaves very detailed and vivid pictures of all the characters. It's something I appreciate and enjoy, but I can see how it might not be for those looking for a more casual style.
It's a great story. Give it a try.
