- XarnesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story follows the person reincarnated as Elf Andarel, who is one of the important characters in a game series, which the reincarnated person played extensively before. He is not the hero or a playable character in the game, but is quite invested in the future of his race, as well as his own life.
It is not normal sort of a story with knowing the future and selecting best opportunities to achieve it. No, Andarel is a person who wants to preserve his own beliefs and often unique motives or peculiar lifestyle choices, by using combination of foreknowledge/S-rank double edged luck/cold and calculative character adequate decisions/manipulation/yet-unexplained-dubious-clairvoyance.
It is quickly apparent, that although he has abilities to shape the future, his plans are often challenged through unexpected revelations, circumstances as well as occasional character development.
Style score:
It is informal writing, which has recently gained a lot of popularity through series like Eminence in the Shadows, and if you like that one, you'll probably like this one too. It fits into narrative of certain casual conversations and lightens the mood of various grievous or atrocious decisions, tragedy or drama. Not always it takes itself or some events with enough seriousness, but one may nonetheless appreciate the effect it creates.
It is comical and fast to read, which allows to express certain actions or capture the scenes, without going too much into depressive "stuff" and unnecessary stretching out of the story. There are often sudden twists and turns in the plot that keep it entertaining and provides quite unique experience.
Story score:
Multiple interesting plots, very fast paced, jumping from one plot to the other in an interesting fashion. The worldbuilding is massive and readers are not left being bored with overused or boring chapters. Both predicted and unpredicted events are happening, world is living, people are moving in the background, calamities are incoming, ther - librarysmilesRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The hero's friend, Andarel, is a manipulative two-timer working with a gag-relief hero.
Andarel has a cynical soul that is struggling in his own way to gain power to enforce an ending that is favorable to himself.
The storytelling precariously balances between serious and silly, past and present, and focus on the hero and focus on the protagonist.
