Description
[Where the sky and stars are but legend, the sky-seekers journey to turn myth into reality]
A sky-seeker’s gaze is turned ever upward, for no one knows what lies at the top of the giant hole they call by many names. The inverted abyss, the infinite sky, or even some believe it to be an ancient structure created by the Gods, a hollowed spire. Guided by the allure of unfathomable riches and powerful ancient artifacts, the legendary sky-seekers journey to find out.
When Ezra’s mother left for the ground twenty years ago, he wondered what drew her to the surface. Stuck in a town called Deepburrow, a place where few imagine life above, Ezra works tirelessly for a mining corporation. Waiting for a chance that may never come, he becomes bitter toward the many corporations that control every aspect of a sky-seeker’s life. Including the chance to become one.
Yet when a mining accident occurs, leaving Ezra trapped in a stone coffin with strange visions filling his mind, he finds an ancient device that lets him store and manipulate objects around him. With this miracle of technology in his hands, the chance to escape Deepburrow and chase after his mother seems closer than ever. But first, he must escape impending death.
Several things readers can expect going into this story:
★Most litrpg elements show up around chapter 8 onwards
★An MC that is initially bitter but grows to be more optimistic as he takes hold of his fate
★An unfolding mystery that is directly tied to the setting and encourages readers to hold onto pieces of lore
★Numerous environments throughout the inverted abyss with deep world-building
★Chapters range between 1.5k to 3.5k words
Book 1 of this story is completed. Currently, I am working on other stories.
I’ve been writing fantasy for a while and wanted to take a shot at the progression and litrpg genres. My primary inspirations for this story are Made in Abyss and Tower of God, but there are plenty of other stories I draw from. If I listed them all here, this blurb would be too long.

Style
When it comes to web novels the biggest aspect that I’m looking at is the style. Style takes time to refine as it requires deliberate effort from the author. I find myself running into cliches, cringey dialogue, and a lack of world building constantly. Although no one is perfect of course, this author seems to have a stronger grasp than most when it comes to actually telling a compelling story. Instantly right out the gate, I love how the first chapter opens with a short segment that builds the mystery, drama, and shows off the poetic nature of the writing. The world then continues to be thoroughly fleshed out with grimey detail of backstreets, rusted towers, and looming lights. The dialogue feels natural and has a nice bouncy flow to it. One thing I especially appreciate is that all of the characters feel distinct with their dialogue.
Story
The author said that the main inspirations they draw from are Tower of God and Made in Abyss. I love those stories, especially the second one, so I felt right at home. The beginning chapters felt cozily familiar with the structure and the world, and the more I read the more I saw the author take those stories and twist and turn them into their own unique vision. They craft a story that instantly is built upon intrigue and a living world. Overlying questions are set up in the first few chapters with smaller mysteries being solved along the way. There’s a really fun dynamic of a bigger story being built out while still making the smaller more personal moments impactful and memorable. These first eight chapters are a breeze to get through as it’s just that engaging. The end of the first arc gave me chills and made me tear up, even on a reread, which is wild because that never happens.
Character
I’m not a terribly big fan of jaded characters such as Ezra; I find them to be edge lords - box-no-thereRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m loving it already, I’m hooked. So far I’ve read the first 2 chapters, soon to read the 3rd, I love the word choice and detail in this book! Can’t wait to see Ezra’s Progression as I get farther into the book! Super excited to read more. Definitely recommend this book!
