Description

Knights cultivate Laws to transcend mortality. They live for centuries, leading all of humanity while ceaselessly searching for the ultimate path.

Mages study Runes to control creation itself. Their lives are short, but burn with unmatched radiance, leaving marks that may never fade.

Roland Crescent consumes food to continue existing. He has lived for almost fifteen years without accidentally choking to death, a feat not yet committed to chronicles and song.

Five years ago, at the tender age of nine, Roland suddenly stopped dreaming and instead started seeing the imminent deaths of those around him in nightly visions. Believing himself destined for greatness, he set out to become a righteous hero of justice.

But as the years passed this young wannabe savior found that his duties brought him almost no discernible benefits, whereas new burdens kept piling onto his small shoulders without end.

When a longtime plan’s failure ends up opening the path to several twisted opportunities, Roland might have to finally admit to himself that nobody of importance, much less fate itself, had any regards for his heroic inclinations.

Slow paced, character focused story. Gets very dark at times. Basically like Lord of the Mysteries with more comedic aspects at the start.

Chapters are released Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Average chapter length is about 4000 words, with only the first vision being noticeably shorter.

Have fun reading.

It's good story with lots of potential. Story is about orphaned 14 year old wanna-be-hero boy named Roland. From first glance Roland seems like happy go lucky unremarkable lad with his head in clouds, but inside him churns complex emotions (personality). Roland has a special gift which helps him save people, but he cannot tell anyone. As of now main character is smart, clever and likable, he has that ,,underdog" feeling which I kinda like (not many stories show were  protagonists have to put in the work to get strong, they either are blessed with heavenly bodies and supreme knowledge or they have some secret (,,cheat") divine treasures/ techniques which propell them eventually to godhood). We'll see if that changes in the future... We can also see that author put a lot of work in this story and it's world building, were is attention to details.
So, in conclusion, I like it and I recommend people to try it too, to see if they like it

A Wish Upon Chaos is an ambitious project by an author who seeks to match the greatness of Lord of Mysteries and A Will Eternal. In the tradition of the titles from which it draws inspiration, the story starts slow so the narrative is still in the early stages. That said, the author has left enough breadcrumbs for the readers to remain sated if they find stories of mystery, magic, and, potential dark truths appealing.
Story (4): The story is probably the weakest part of this fiction but not because it's bad. The story simply hasn't developed into anything yet and aside from a small amount of progression, most of the word count is spent on foreshadowing and laying the groundwork of future plot lines. However, like a curious child, it has a lot of potentials. The story follows Roland, a hopeful orphan who has the gift of limited precognition, and his friends as they attempt to right wrongs, save people, and figure out the mysteries in his visions. The world also hints at a cultivation system but aside from it being a reference, we haven't seen much of it.
Characters (5): I love good characters and they are probably my favorite part of this fiction. Roland is the leader of a "gang" called the Crescent Moon Helpers who are a ragtag band of orphans attempting to help people as best they can, whether with the aid of Roland's visions or otherwise. I won't get into them much because this is where most of the story spends its time, especially with Roland who the author takes care to show is not exactly what he seems.
Style (4): The prose had a decent flow to them on a compositional level so I don't have many complaints there. My biggest gripe is probably the overuse of adverbs and adjectives at times. In terms of narrative style, the story takes after web novels with 1000+ chapters apiece so the author is going for a slow and steady beginning much like a cultivator setting up a good foundation.
Grammar (4): The story has mostly clean grammar but suffers from similar issues t
