Community Rating
Description
On Earth, runaway twins Kal and Tristan survived by working for the city's criminal underbelly - until a job gone wrong killed them both.
After striking a shady deal with a mysterious being named Gartan, they are reborn in the same fantasy world - but with no knowledge that the other was reborn as well.
Kal is reborn as a farmer's son, determined to walk a righteous path this time, for his brother's sake as well as his own.Tristan, however, awakens as the heir to a powerful crime lord, unable to escape the pull of his past.
As they grow from childhood to adulthood in a world of magic, fate, and unseen forces, their separate journeys bring them closer to an inevitable reunion - one neither of them could have imagined.
Will blood prove stronger than the lives they've built?
What roles will the brothers play as the world around them shifts - growing darker, more dangerous with each passing day?
And just what was Gartan's true purpose in bringing them here?
(Inspired by The Kingkiller Chronicles, and Mushoko Tensei)
What to Expect:
- A long, character-driven story following the brothers from childhood to adulthood.
- Parallel storytelling - Kal's journey will feel more wholesome, cozy, and slice-of-life. Tristan's path will feel more dangerous, ruthless, filled with intrigue and power struggles.
- A slower-paced beginning (childhood part) to develop the characters, world, and magic system.
- A personalized magic system for each user - could be reliant on science, on art, or even imagination.

- NerokazamaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Let’s start with the story.
This is a story about two brothers struggling through an incredibly harsh life—and I mean really harsh. But honestly, that’s what makes an isekai novel exciting. One of the best parts of the genre is seeing characters who have suffered in one world rise up and make something of themselves in another. I really enjoy stories with strong progression, and from what I’ve seen so far, this one delivers it fast.
Style:
The story is told from the perspective of two brothers, giving the impression that both are main characters. However, based on what I’ve read, one of them seems to be the true protagonist. The novel is written in third person, which I personally prefer since it allows for more depth in storytelling and world-building. The dual perspective adds an interesting dynamic, making it feel fresh compared to more traditional single-protagonist narratives.
Grammar:
There are a few grammar mistakes scattered throughout the text, but nothing too distracting.
Characters:
The second brother seems to be set up as a hero, but the first brother—the one I believe is the main character—has a much harder life. And that kind of hardship shapes a person. It creates anger, frustration, and ultimately, a violent character. And honestly? I like that. XD
Overall:
I didn’t find any major issues that detract from the story. It has a solid foundation and the potential to become something great. With strong progression, engaging characters, and an interesting dynamic between the brothers, I think this story could stand out in the isekai genre. If it keeps up this momentum, it’s definitely worth following. - Rookie12Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Before you, we have an isekai novel about siblings. The story starts in the RL, and the author manages to fit in a single chapter with enough characterization to paint us the differences between the MCs' characters real fast AND also give us a little mystery story.
The time spent on the RL side wasn't just for thematic reasons; the characters' personalities (what they like, their dispositions, etc.) seep into the main plot.
Style: The author favors short, tight paragraphs with concise information, enough for the reader to fill in the blanks in their own minds. But the author also uses different formats for songs, which works beautifully in its simplicity.
Worldbuilding: Good. While I could see the 'fate's' prank from a mile away, it wasn't exactly presented as a mystery to the reader. We are introduced to the basic concepts of the value of various topics (songs, math, a rivalry between states, and so on) before they come into a larger revelation of how they relate to local magic; so when the situation finally plays out, it feels like a proper payoff based on the previous events.
Grammar. I am not a native English speaker, so take my words with a bag of salt here. There are a couple of mistakes, but the author fixes them rather fast, and they do not stand in the way of understanding the story.
Characters: The meat of the story. I think the novel is building up to a confrontation between the two brothers in another world (but this is just my prediction; I could be wrong). One brother appears to be more likely to step out of the life of seeking power, while the other is put in the exact situation where he is more likely to try to gain power because of the way his past and present lives have shaped him. It is logical; neither comes off as a buffoon; they have their own individual strengths, and it is fascinating to read their POVs (truth be told, I like Kal more, as he is more of an underdog to me compared to his brother).
Overall, the story has a solid hook and many po - Gray Word ArtsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Once upon a time, there were two abused children in Earth. One was pragmatic and ruthless, the other a lover of music. One day, the older brother took a dangerous job. Neither survived. However, the older brother made a deal so that both would live, at the cost of his own happiness, and their ability to remember each others' names...
This masterfully told tale is highly recommended. The author does a good job of showing the juxtaposition between familial love, and what being used by a crafty person looks like, from multiple angles.
Technically, the grammar and spelling are on point, with few problems that I can see. This author has written other tales before, and it's clear they have a fair mastery of their craft.
The story and characters are all above average. The author keeps the characters reasonably simple, and to the point, and the story beats are driven by the characters trying to get what they do want, and avoid what they don't. This character-centric storytelling is classic for a reason.
The style of the story leaps between character POVs based on the chapter. This is still highly effective, but it does seem like there was some confusion based on an author's note on Chapter 8, which described the system for describing POVs. The only modest improvement I can think of, is to block character chapters together differently to complete a narrative idea, before changing POVs.
That said, that's a most minor quibble to be had. The current structure felt good to me, and there's really not a lot to complain about.
If you're not following this, you really should. The story is young, and only time will tell if the brothers will ever reunite...and if they will be able to recognize each other when they do. Will this be a comedy, or a tragedy?
Only the author can say.
