- idanallmightyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As of chapter 23, we see some people starting to adapt, a lot of people in some kind of denial, monsters showing up and the world getting messed up nicely. Good writing, slow paced (although the world is getting f*cked up really fast), nice read and interesting prospect all together. Im actually waiting for the chapters to come.

"In a world where everyone lives their lives like everyone else, a terrifying cataclysmic event occurred where the world changed completely; fire weapons, missiles and war between countries may turn into the least of your worries as mythical creatures and fantasy beings invade the world and run rampant; the dead and the deceased roam the world in thirst for blood; the world is no more what it was before."
This novel delves into the intricacies of the MC and his family surviving as well as they can in this now-post-apocalyptic world.
It's important to highlight its captivating narrative, well-developed characters, and how easily you end up delving deep into the storyline.
As the heart of the novel, our MC, Xavier, can be described as a normal college student but also a quite resilient guy, as he manages to protect his family while also experimenting with the Deckbuilding System to get himself strong enough and be able to protect his family.
Guided by his worries and unwavering determination to protect his loved ones, Xavier picks up his parents and embarks on a perilous journey through his now desolate and Post-apocalyptic looking Town teeming with danger and uncertainty.
Along the way, he may encounter danger and uncertainty, but thanks to the Deckbuilding System, he may get reunited with his whole family before a tragedy were to happen.
What sets "A Tamer's Path (A Deckbuilding System Apocalypse)" apart from other post-apocalyptic novels is its innovative Deckbuilding System, and I'm pretty sure that there's not a single System like the "Deckbuilding System" out there.
This unique mechanic allows its owners to customize their future selves and create their own amazing builds while they adapt to the ever-changing challenges they will face.
The drops from killing their enemies represent various skills, abilities, and resources that Xavier can utilize to overcome obstacles, engage in combat, and navigate the treacherou - GrandVoidDaoistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is my first deck building story I've read and is quite good. I've read sevearal apocalypse stories, but the flow of this one is smooth, causing one to be hooked to it right from chapter one. I can't help but want to read more and see where the story goes.
- I_love_flying_kitesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In the brief span of just the first four chapters, this novel has already shown remarkable potential.
The chapters are not just lengthy; they are rich with detail, offering a depth and complexity that is rare and engaging. The world-building is a standout feature, unique and intriguing, different from anything I've encountered in other books within this genre.
The grammar and writing style are impeccable, reflecting the author's considerable skill and attention to detail.
What resonates with me particularly as a desktop reader is the author's use of bold, italics, and varied fonts. This isn't just a gimmick; it significantly enhances the clarity and impact of the narrative, making my reading experience more vivid and immersive.
In terms of the storyline, the main character (MC) seems both likable and intelligent. While it's still the beginning, my initial impressions are overwhelmingly positive. The world and setting of the story are both unique and gripping, urging me to delve deeper into the book.
For enthusiasts of beast taming novels, especially those who are uncertain about their next read, this book is undoubtedly a worthwhile choice.
Moreover, the first four chapters are engaging enough to captivate your mind for a good twenty minutes, and of that, I am certain. This novel promises an exciting journey, and I am eager to see where it leads. - Ada_5253Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It was my first read in this genre and surprisingly I enjoyed it. System novels have never been my cup of tea but this one seems to have an intriguing Plot. Coming from two great authors, I should have expected nothing less. The narratives of MC father and mother conversation are quite amusing. Really looking forward to new chapters and find out how MC will use the system in apocalypse. A must read book!!!
- FlamerrrrrRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The language of this novel is extremely descriptive and each scene is described in detail. I can imagine myself being in that situation and seeing the scenery with my eyes.
Though at times, it might feel like a drag to read the descriptive paragraphs, you won't regret reading them.
The story is quite unique as compared to other novels that I have read. Though the start might feel slightly slow, it's still interesting. I'm quite curious to see how this story unfolds.
You should definitely give this a read if you are looking for something unique with beautiful descriptions. Have a nice day! - HolfTaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The book has a great, solid foundation. The characters thoughts are realistic and I found it specially great to see the mc stuck to the ground, have general relationships with the other characters around him.
The apocalyptic setting is new to me. Initially the beginning with the natural catastropes seemed a little bit off and hard to imagine, however the unfolding events that described the new reality were clear and progressed well, so it was easy to get into it.
I enjoyed the monologues of the mc, he goes through a mental shift as he starts on his quest to get strong and there are amazing reality check points where he is taken back to staying human and have empathy and normal emotions.
I like the progression of the story in book one. I found it a bit hard to follow how the days flew, the leveling of the cards wasn't really clear to me. Some cards he got in the beginning should have definitely levelled up since he was using it forever. I think maybe it would have helped to see some basic update at the end of the chapters to see how his deck is, but that is a personal preference with style.
I am very curious where the story goes and I am very excited about the tamed beasts the mc has and is going to have. I highly recommend the story for any litrpg lover that wants a taste in an apocalyptic setting. - dtracersRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0It was pretty good but the end of the volume complete jumped out of what was happening and transitioned hard into something different.
Deck building became less of a focus and it focused more on "other things"
If you like the mystique and vagueness of some novels or taking a hard right turn into a much larger world then this is for you!
If you like slow building and a steady novel then you may not like the end of the second novel.
Characters are fun but it mostly focuses on the MC - PoTaytoHeadRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm not sure how much experience the author has with writing, but I get the sense that this is an early attempt at writing. This isn't a dig. It instead explains a few of the issues that are present in the story so far. That being said, I like this story. The mash-up of deck-building and system integration is a fun one and I think the ideas here are solid. I think that some adjustment to style and character development could make a really great story with the foundational ideas present.
Style: The style is a bit stilted. A big indicator of an author's comfort writing (in my opinion) is the use of contractions. The portions of this story that use standard contractions flow well and the story rolls along. But when some of the characters talk and say things like, "I cannot go on..." you lose the immersion. A modern person in an English speaking society wouldn't say that. It drags you out of believable character interactions.
Word choice also drags me out of the story sometimes. We have a young MC that's savvy on video games but uses phrases like, "I merely want to find out where they reside and how many members they have." That's not something a teenage or early-20s student would say about going on a dangerous recon mission. It's odd things like this that show me the author isn't considering the totality of the character when they're writing dialogue. It's more than just a vehicle to get the plot going. The character has habits, mindsets, and personality. The best way to show that is through how the characters interact with each other. If we had been shown that the character has an odd way of talking, it would make sense, But he goes between talking like a normal teen and then talking like a WoW character. It's jarring.
Grammar: The grammar is pretty solid outside of some word choice issues.
Story: This is the strongest part of the story. I like the idea of the world that's been explored so far. That being said, the pace of that exploration has been pretty slow. As of - ZeustiakRoyal Road★ 0.5Overall the writing is a trainwreck of poorly thought out ideas strewn together. The pacing is barely coherent. The characters are constantly making extremely nonsensical choices given what is happening around them. Some of the things that are described leave the reader wondering just why? Is that really what the focus would or should be at the moment?
I wish the author the best, but this needs a lot of work.
