Description

"The true Soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him." – G.K. Chesterton

Army Ranger Sergeant Dean Forester, an elite RSTF operator, is sent on a high-stakes mission to retake and destroy a secret lab that has fallen to humanity’s greatest enemy: the Orith. When the mission goes horribly wrong and Dean is gravely injured, he is thrust through an experimental wormhole, awakening in a world on the brink of collapse—a world where war, slavery, and darkness reign.

In this broken land, Twilight Sparkle, the last surviving Alicorn, has been driven into hiding. For nearly two years, the once-peaceful kingdom of Equestria has been under the brutal control of the Dark Elves, who have enslaved its inhabitants, imprisoned the remaining Elements of Harmony, and slaughtered its Princesses. Twilight’s hope is all but extinguished—until she stumbles upon a mysterious, battle-scarred human, a legend come to life from the depths of the Everfree Forest.

Bound by fate, Dean and Twilight must forge an unlikely alliance to stop the Dark Elves from expanding their tyrannical rule across the globe. With Dean’s military prowess and Twilight’s fading magic, they face impossible odds: ruthless enemies, treacherous allies, and a world that no longer believes in heroes. As they journey together, Dean will have to confront his own demons and the loss that haunts him, while Twilight must rediscover the spark of hope she thought was lost forever.

Blood will be spilled, loyalties will be tested, and in the fight for a dying world, Dean and Twilight may discover that peace and harmony come at the greatest cost of all. And as Dean finds himself torn between his duty and a new home, he must ask himself: is it possible to love what is behind you when there’s nothing left to go back to?

Alright. I want to start this by saying I am not a fan of my little pony. So I had to look up who all these little horse things and apparently midget dragons beings and whatnots were.
Was very, very sceptical of the summary and how it threw me for a loop. Began reading, laughed at the ridiculousness. Then somehow I ended up binge reading the dang thing. Came close a few times for me to be like wtf. However, its dark, gory, malicious. has a good wrap on trauma for what its worth compared to most stories, and again somehow made me like content I had avoided like the plague in this one story. So. Kudos to the author.
