A reason to fight

The world broke in the past thirteen years of Advent occupation; scattered remnants of camps, patrolling Advent units in the wild, groups of scavengers. It is clear to Luis, an ex-military survivor, that the world has truly lost its way. Alas, there is a certain wonder to the experience of consciousness, one that a viper, freshly separated from Advent, will not let go to waste. Truly, not fitted for another, both in species and in outlook. But perhaps beauty, some joy, and a little bit of companionship may just upturn the previous enemies' perception of the world and someone from across the universe.
