Description
Levi was happy with the life he had built for himself. He had a stable job, decent lodgings, and every weekend he alternated between hiking and biking in the mountains outside of town to keep in shape. There might have been downsides, like no real family or friends and an ex-girlfriend he would rather not think about, but he thought his dad would be proud of what he had done with his life. Levi was content with his prefect walled in regimented life, and even if there was a small part of him that wanted more, wanted actual meaningful relationships, he kept that part of him tightly locked away. Those relationships weren’t worth the pain they inevitably caused.
But when a powerful supernatural force sweeps through Earth, Levi finds himself forced into a new environment, the social mask he used before no longer valid. With no choice but to survive and grow, he now needs to confront those feelings he thought he locked away for good. He needs to not only figure out how to survive, but how to live, and what exactly it means to have a place to call home.

- theholyflameRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well written, story is unique and a lot better then most of the stuff on this site. If you need something to read give it a try. Starts out like any litrpg/transported story then it gets interesting/good. Main and side characters have depth, and emotion and overall good plot twist. Grammer and story is excellent.

- SpartanstorytellerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0ive read up to chapter 17 and so far I love the story Levi is always fighting for survival and he is human and therefore imperfect. He makes mistakes and it’s interesting to see him rebound from them keep up the good work because this story definitely deserves to be in the trending section
- Teal DeerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For those who stick with it, A Place to Belong is a rewarding read. The characters are explored in great depth, and the setting pulls you in like few others. After reading Exponential Mana Regeneration (same author) my expectations for this one were very different than what I got, and I'm pleased to say so. Even if you do not normally like this sort of story, I would recommend sticking it out and see if it grows on you. It certainly surprised me, and I look forward to the release of more chapters.
- GalroseRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Its a great story in my opinion. the character seems built well and the story is going in an interesting direction. Hope the author keeps going with this one until the end.
- SteadyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0read up to ch 34
A really solid web novel. It looks ike the most of the prep is towards character development. Seeing a character that is so... unsure of himself, among other traits, is really refreshing. I have some concerns about the plot, I hope there is something "substantial" about it that isn't simply "good people fights mean poopie pants evil stuff" (not that this can't be done well) but in my mind I'm hoping that the character constantly has to make hard choices or something, and so far it has a decent track record. World building seems pretty good so far, but it ties in with my concerns about the plot. From what tidbits of the plot/world building, it's a setup for something enjoyable. I hope the first dungeon is explained a bit more... the first half seemed pretty cool, not so much the second half, it was just fighting shit. Not that it wasn't enjoyable, just that in my mind it doesn't quite match up to what I thought was the theme of the dungeon was, which was something along the lines of being mindful, looking for hints, etc. It is consistent for some other themes, such as making sure the challengers have a complete toolkit, but there seemed to be an aura of "hey there was like a sentient dungeon maker dude that thought through the design of the first couple of rooms and does a pretty good job of establishing expectations and building on concepts, etc." but then it turns into hey just kill stuff. In my mind I thought it would (eventually) be some combination of a deadly/annoying terrain and fighting monsters. I don't have too much else to nitpick, but I look forward to reading more. - MelcontentRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Upto chapter twenty right now. There might be rewrites and edits by the time you read this.
Plot: the world changed suddenly as everyone in the world was teleported to a new world and given game abilities. Levi, a shut in gamer now has to survive in a world of his dreams and nightmares.
What I like about this series?
I am not really sure what I like about it, all I know is that I spent a night reading it.
The main character is a shut in, lamenting the death of his father and having broken up with his girlfriend. This is the type of character who wanted an escape from his world and got his wish. My problem with him is that he has a death wish, forsaking logic for possible no gain.
There are a few spelling and grammar errors but I don't think that they break the book. - PsychoRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This fiction is great in all aspects aside from one.
After author sacrificed mc's only companion, we were able to finally witness what kind of person mc is, he is pathetic fool. I do not know if author intentionally made him weak so that we see him grow, but it is freaking painful to read.
Character with willpower as his main stat, has no actual willpower. Meh. - FallionRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Spoiler: Spoiler
The story itself is fine, I like the style and don't have any complaints about the grammar, but the MC is basically a moron and the only other character with enough content to judge was killed off.
The MC puts stats into constitution and he meets a bunch of weak enemies who can barely scratch him due to it, he puts points into agility and dexterity and shortly after he has to jump from platform to platform proceeded by a fight with a large monster where speed is needed.
The MC throws himself at any danger he sees for no reason, he doesn't think at all. He is supposed to be a gamer and the first thing he does upon seeing a dungeon is waltz up to it and jump in without a proper weapon, any protective gear or fighting skills. There was no reason to enter the dungeon othan the loot that might or might not be there.
He barely fights off a monster right outside the boss room of the dungeon and instead of getting some proper rest and some food, he immediately throws himself into the boss room where he knows there will most likely be something even more dangerous. He has minimal problems jumping from platform to platform over lava due to his willpower but is too disgusted by the way he killed this monster to make himself eat it, this can be explained by him not actually wanting to eat it desite knowing it's edible - this reinforces my point that he is a moron - or he actually has less than a normal persons willpower which means the stats are completely useless.
After Susan died he said he was a living tombstone and her name would be with him as long as he lived in the system, he should have a pretty damn good reason to live and not throw himself at deaths door at every opportunity. Every story has plot armor, but this story just makes it so blatantly obvious it ruins any suspense.
The story is a decent read and while the MC is a moron he's at least not some overly arrogant prick, I'd advice anyone reading to not think too much about his actions.
This review - mrttaoRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Parts of the story are interesting, but some parts seem contrived. The worst of it is the MC.
Spoiler: Spoiler
I like how the system is implementd, it is fairly minimalistic, it doesn't give someone info until they earned it, it doesn't banter with the MC, it is implemented equally to all people on earth. I like how the MC is shaping up his build (body enhancement magic, which is addictive, mind altering, and dangerous...). I like how tough monsters are and how fresh the world feels.
It is a plot point that the MC is a thoroughly broken man as the author both shows us and tells us. His mom ran out when he was a kid, his dad died of cancer when he was 16, and then his childhood sweetheart left him. He withdrew from society and never moved on even many years later.
After the system drops everyone in a new world (or redesigns the old one?) he manages to meet a very interesting character. She is an old (50-60) ex marine with her own tragic backstory but unlike the MC moved on and she feels like a real person, an interesting one at that. Honestly I found her in every possible way a better main character, so it is a huge shame she was killed off to give him motivation; I would have preferred the MC to die and her to take over as the new MC. Her death of course just exacerbates his brokenness since in the few days he knew her he became very co-dependent.
Aside from that MC deserves multiple darwin awards. Despite being an avid and experienced gamer he charges into the first dungeon he sees, while at level 1, unarmed, and without a single combat applicable skill. Then inside it he keeps on making horrible darwin award winning decisions. As he keeps on saying "I underestimated the dungeon again" (for the fifth time? I could see once, maybe twice, but he just refuses to back away and keeps on going).
It is not all bad... and some parts were actually quite nicely done. but as a story it could have been a lot better.
