TLDR: This is the best book I’ve read this year. A New Eden is a sci-fi mystery that is part Andy Weir, part Children of Time, and part Bobiverse.
I like that these characters actually feel like real people who don't always get things right first time and they have a sense of humour.
I also like the cool sci Fi concepts like the hapticgram and the betaverse, gets me intrigued.
The author is really good at describing things as well so it feels like I'm actually there with that character.
Awesome to find a new author that I really like. Keep the chapters coming! When can we buy the physical book?

I remember how I felt when I first dived in: What is all this? What's going on? Is this real?
These are all questions I like to have any time I start a good sci-fi story, but there are limits. Eventually, you begin to hope for some answers, and this story delivers on that front at about chapter 4 (I'm not sure off-hand because I have a terrible memory; I'd go back, but I'm on a roll ;))
From that chapter on, all of it clicked. The lore went from curious to fascinating, and the author knows how to paint a picture with their words. The ideas presented are big time, just out there enough that you don't need to know the how or why (but the why is always appreciated, I loved the science lesson in a later chapter).
My only quibble is that the characters feel like vessels for dialogue rather than actual characters in and of themselves. I'm not connecting with any of them, but the desire to know what will happen next keeps me going. It feels like things will go terribly for everyone quickly.
One last thing: Using Betaverse to describe what is essentially the "real" analog universe is inspired. I love that.
Update: Having read more of the story I wanted to amend my character and story score, as I hoped things got real real good :)

I remember in Comp Sci in highschool, the teacher would tell us "You need to remember, computers are not smart or clever. They are always as dumb as the one giving them instructions."
This story has highlighted this lesson quite nicely, to hilarious effect.
Opening the story with a fair bit of tension and introducing us to the characters already in the middle of a dangerous situation really sets the stage for what feels like would be an incredible and terrifying adventure.
There are a lot of details there in the early scenes on Mars that show quite a bit of thoughtfulness towards the practicalities of the mission itself, and what the people involved are sacrificing in order to see it through in a way that feels meaningful.
It's still early days, and I feel like this story has quite a bit more to show us, but so far, I've been really enjoying the exploratory first steps and stumbles that the characters are taking, particularly when coming back to my initial mention of "computers always being as dumb as the one who gave them instructions."
    Looking forward to more :)

It is an amazing sci -fi so far where the character development makes this book a 5 star story. Very rarely do you get to read a book with such great character development even though most of the characters only interactions are with AI.
It is sooo funny and it feels very real, you can imagine yourself having these hilarious conversations with friends on your way to try and save the world.
LOVE LOVE LOVE A New Eden.

This story crams a lot of high minded sci-fi into a small space. Virtual Reality, artificial intelligence, planetary colonization, the Fermi Paradox, all sorts of things. Throw in some action, human craziness, and hard science (the nature of light and quantum entanglement was especially well explained) and you get a fun ride that makes you think.
STYLE: The series uses multiple POVs, changing the tone slightly depending on which character you're following. While there are a lot of hard science themes, they're explained simply enough that us regular folks who went to public school can follow them. It's well paced and fun to read.
STORY: Despite multiple themes and a complicated universe, the story itself is simple and easy to follow. It's got an old school Star Trek (Next Generation, not the new stuff) feel to it, with big ideas and intelligent characters and a mostly hopeful tone.
CHARACTER: The characters are likeable, though they haven't been deeply explored at this juncture. Each one is distinct, but the focus of the story has been more on the science and adventure than it has on their personal motivations and development. This is not a bad thing, and I'm not knocking off any points for it.
GRAMMAR: I didn't find any mistakes. Full marks.
OVERALL: This is a fun and intelligent series in the proud tradion of Star Trek and The Orville. Highly recommend.

A New Eden is still in its early stages, but it's a wonderful set up to what will be a sprawling sci-fi adventure.
Style: The prose is utilitarian and not overly written, which is the right choice for this story. The pace starts off fast, however, it settles into a rhythm early on. The only style errors involve punctuation. Some examples would be using semi colons and dashes interchangeably and a small number of sentences that could be rewritten for more clarity. Very few issues and nothing effects the overall reading experience.
Story: So far, the story is very good and kept me turning the page. As the author describes, it's a lot like the bobiverse. If you read it, there are definitely some terms and themes you will recognize. Essentially, we've got a group of people who become Von Neumen probes and a helpful AI. There are some really high level concepts here, more so than bobiverse, and so far, the author has made me believe them. Good stuff!
Grammar: The grammar is really good. Almost perfect. The only errors are punctuation. But do you all really care if an introductory prepositional phrase is missing a comma?
Character: It took me a few chapters before the characters began to become individuals for me, but when it clicked, I was very pleased with the direction the characters are going.
While they all share in the same mission, their personalities are wildly different and I think their personalities will help shape "Ship", the AI into its own unique personalities.
This story has some really awesome concepts. The science is understand and fun but high level enough to make me feel like it's authentic. So far, it's a very impressive start! Highly highly recommended

Interesting from the start, 'A New Eden' grips the reader with nostalgia for classic SF. No heavy backlog of information, it starts in a lived in world and flows smoothly forward. Enough technology to fullfill the 'science' part of science fiction without being too heavy handed. Just hope he figures out that whole FTL, or Faster Than Light, communication thingy! ;)
The bad guy faction's motivation could maybe be filled out some, although, really, why? They're left in a  galaxy far, far, away (I owe Disney a quarter now), namely ours. I am interested in the VR Multiverse, though. Wouldn't mind that explored a little more. Especially the part about more people living in VR than the betaverse. Is that meant literal, or figurative? Virtual babies without organic counterparts?
Diverging there, not really about the main story at hand. Spinoff?
Lackey, McCaffrey, Moon, and Weber would be proud.
(okay, even for sefl-professed writers, this 200 word min, sure seems to go on...)
(Huh. Would a word counter be too much to ask for?)
Witers are supposed to be somewhat concise in thier words. Each word chosen with precision and masterfully (HA!) placed with all of the care in the world. More taste, less filling.

This story require you to get to about chapter 3/4 to really be hooked. If you are not hooked by then why are you reading a sci-fi story?
The beginning of the story was just a little confusing to follow, but once I started keeping track of everything going on the story became really fun to read and enjoyable. I'm excited to read more and will definitely be watching this story to read more updates from it.
Style: I took off points here for the slightly hard to follow start and because I think Icarus could have used a little more description to make his new avatar more clear for the reader. I really didn't expect how he looked till the author posted an image of him.
The story was still fun to read and written in a way that makes for easy pleasant reading.
Grammar: I noticed very few things. The author seems to fix any issues quickly.
Story: The story is quite interesting and fun. The beginning is quite intense but the story relaxes into an easy reading story after the hype start.
Character: So far we are following 3 unique perspectives. It seemed like there were 4 main characters, but we have only followed 3 perspectives. Each character has definitly had there own understanding of their mission.

Loved it, the only downside is that there isnt more of it and I can't find anything similar.
The tech in this is amazing and it all just fits, I couldnt find any instant solutions, the characters make sense, earth gov isn't totally in the wrong cuz they have everything they could possibly need for a very very long time and 100% understabale for not wanting to do any seeding on worlds in fear of cutting off future life. A must read for any sci fi fan sick and tired of plots warping to characters and forgetting its own rules.

Found this book in "rising stars" and I have really enjoyed the chapters so far. The pacing is really well executed, and the first chapter provided a comprehensive, yet interesting, character breakdown. I found all the science was easy to understand (especially for someone not super knowledgeable like me) and all the large terms were well explained. My favourite part about the book is the switching between characters and worlds each with its own 'ship' and 'lex'. Hopefully, in future chapters, we get to see more of Angelique's character cause I really enjoyed her introduction in the first few chapters. Amazing job! Well done! 10/10 book so far.
