    The prose is strong and good, but there are just too much in the mix here. We have our first person narrator and yet the setting is not firmly established and we are stuck as readers as this observer who is shaken off and forgotten in short order. The POV switch, the prose, it makes for a bit of a disorienting mix where we are not grounded first.
