Description
Book One: Complete
Book Two: Releasing [no schedule atm due to RL shit]
It was almost 10 Years ago that the Tower first emerged. A mysterious demi-planar monolith containing infinite dangers but also infinite possibilities. Humanity saw it as a boon, at first. A gift from a benevolent God, or from some species with a higher risk tolerance but good intentions.
Then the 5 Year Disaster struck, and Humanity learned the truth. The Tower was a test, not a gift. A test they were failing. They doubled down on their efforts, Climbing with the fury of a dying species, but it was not enough. In the final moments before their species was annihilated, a single unimportant member of the final force of Humanity found a unique item. It sent him back to three months after the Tower emerged, to lead Humanity in a rare second chance.
But one man cannot save a world alone, even with a decade’s worth of memories. Will Sutton, Pioneer, will have to deal with both allies and enemies to avoid the mistakes which plagued Humanity’s first Climb if he wants to ensure that they clear the 50thFloor within 10 Years.

- bnazRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I find the quality of writing and level of detail to be great. This is an enjoyable implementation of a tower climbing trope - a reset. This seems to be popular right now and I enjoy this iteration more than others. Author dangles carrots to the reader about how the main character will use his advantage without over playing the hand. MC isn't OP yet and it doesn't necessarily feel like he will become OP, more that he will prevent humanity from being under powered at the end like they were before.
- Mike.S30Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A really interesting take on the "Humanity was screwed over, lets try that again!" genre. Interesting characters that I am looking forward to seeing develop.
This is the point where I have to come up with something to get me over the word count. I am a reader, not a writer! - Toons10Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5This book so far is a very entertaining read. I am engaged with the MC and thier actions and eagerly look forward to each new chapter release. For so.e context, this story is the reason I finally built a profile of RR just so I could let the author know how much I enjoy and appreciate thier work.
- JabbukRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The sub (-sub?) genre of of regressive tower climbing is still fairly sparse, so there is a decent amount of room left for authors to explore without reaching into the realm of duplication. The author has so far managed to keep things fresh and entertaining, with a relativly clean edit, and an interesting character. The only ding I give them is that I'm not a huge fan of the "using the skill in a way no one thought of before to be badass" trope, but there is some wiggle room in a world where the MC has what is functionally years worth of experience to draw on from their first timeline.
- Lordalton56Royal Road★★★★ 4.0I've been enjoying this story a whole heck of a lot. The basic premise of a tower climber story and a reincarnated protagonist without all the edgelord baggage both of those story types often have is great. The MC was a midranker in the past life and his main advantage is just knowing a ton of stuff instead of having some broken cheat, which is another breath of fresh air. As is the MC having basic people skills. The author seems to be going for 'slightly above average joe has to save the world' and is hitting the nail on the head. The style is the shining beacon here.
The story so far has felt a tad easy, there have been a few 'close calls' but things have progressed in a pretty straightforward fashion. Also has a lot of the MC talking us through his thought process instead of doing the things he is thinking about.
This is a story on Royal Road so even just getting a 4 in grammar means its better tha 95%. Would benifit from more editors, but what wouldn't.
The MC is a pretty well drawn character. Though I think that he and all the side characters would benefit a lot from having some more "get to know us" time in a context other than fighting. - Fantasy AddictRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This one ticks all the IMP boxes for people of like litrpg - Second chance, Tower climbing, Protagonist not OP at the start is getting there, story has good pace and progression, romance (absolute rare element in litrpg), no harem so far, protagonist is not solo, is with a team, hoping to see more povs of other characters in book 2.
Nicely done so far.. - HookedontheskyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a pretty early review, but for now this story is definitely worth the read! I like strong MCs, but I don't like when the reason they're so strong seems contrived - here, the time travel gives a very plausible reason why the MC would have so many advantages. The other reason I like the time travel here is that it makes the whole situation very high stakes - we know what would happen if the MC fails, and it's very not good.
The plot hasn't gotten that far for now, but the characters seem varied and interesting, there's a lot from MCs past in the tower that we still haven't discovered that seems interesting, and the action scenes are well-written. There's nothing escpecially out of the box happening, but it's still a very solid story.
My one complaint is that a lot of the future knowledge the MC uses seems very formulaic - he takes a feat/item/skill or whatever that people usually pass on in the beginning, but he knows that so-and-so a couple of years after the tower showed up told everyone how exploitable that thing actually is. It's not a bad way for MC to make a strong build, but the same thing showed up a few times so I hope there's some variety later.
Still, I definitely recommend this story for all litRPG/tower climber lovers. It's a fun and enjoyable read, and you won't regret picking it up. - TauwetterRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I am a big fan of second chance stories, thus I am enjoying this one. The MC gets send back in time after all of humanity is killed while trying to overcome the tower challenge. Nothing new or inovativeve, but a beloved trope that can certainly be fun to read. So far, the story delivers on its promises.
The writing is good, though not exeptional, the characters are interesting and not cardboard copies, though there is room for improvement. I hope the MCs emotions are flashed out a bit more as the story progresses. I like how he is flawed but determined; he is socially awkward, overconfident in the beginning and needs some time to really come to grips with the second chance. I really love that he is planning his build towards beeing a force multiplier as a dps/buff combo. The OP hero that wins all challenges alone is such an overused and unrealistic proposition.
I am most concerned with the size/scale of the tower. The description of the first two floors sound way to small. Earth has about 8 billion inhabitants. Even if only 1% of people visit the tower, thats 80 million. Sure, many would not become serious climbers, but the lower floors would be overrun. I also find it unrealistic that the tower discriminates that much against late starters. Making almost everything first-come, fist-serve seems to contradict the goal of testing an entire species for 10 years. There should be some things that pop up randomly in the lower floors during that time, like new skills in stores or trials/dungeons.
All in all, if you like the second chace-tower climbing trope and are looking for some entertaining light reading, this novel is going in the right direction. - LockeNKantRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5EDIT: 7/30 CH.12
Up to chapter twelve and we're getting a deeper look at some of the world mechanics. Our MC has a specific item goal in mind that raises a few questions about his past habits from other chapters.
We now have some more insight into the world but also run into some logical inconsistencies for how certain things are working. This may be addressed later in the story but flow is still an issue. I'm hoping the author takes note for a rewrite in the future.
As it stands this story is more in the outline/rough draft phase.
EDIT: 7/25 CH.7
I've been able to follow up on the later released chapters and stand by my original assessment with regards to the Character Score. I'm maintaining a 2 star rating due to the dialogue as well as the main character's actions not lining up well with his knowledge.
The author is still developing their writing skills as there have been a few info dumps. This goes back to the old adage of, "Show, don't tell." The author has some ideas worth exploring but favors these info dumps to get to the action of the story. This results in some strange pacing when reading chapters where you can start off with several paragraphs of information (I'm specifically thinking of the parts describing the second floor). The strange pacing then lurches into an action scene.
The pieces of the story are there, but the flow is off. I still encourage others to at least try out the story. Just be mindful and constructive towards the author as they develop their writing.
-----Original Review Below-----
There's not a whole lot to go off besides the prologue and chapter 1 that has been provided. I'll try and keep this short and simple.
First, if you've never read any Tower Climbing style story then add a star to my review as you will likely be unfamiliar with the tropes. If you're familiar with Tower Climbing tropes, then you will notice the standard tropes thrown about within our first two chapters.
Story premise is that Humanity is being tested through th - DrAltRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The MC goes back in time to climb that armageddon tower. He picks up companions and is making a great go of making Earth have a longer lifespan in the awakened world. The progression is decent, and the characters come from several different countries with their own cultural takes. Particularly liked the disarmed alchemist. Anyway, I had read book one and was waiting for book two to be complete (was on 'read later'), but instead, this hit hiatus and I didn't remember much after a long break. Couldn't really get into book two.
Overall a decent story following the tower apocalypse regression idea that never entirely overcame the initial plot to become unique. The story read like a rough draft that needed editing and had pacing issues with information delivery.
