Description
Alex was an all around ordinary college student. Twenty-one and almost done with a degree he had no idea what to do with, he was content with working, studying, and hanging with friends. Trying to enjoy his last few months of college before the debt, stress, and responsibility hit him all at once.
Then his girlfriend went and broke up with him leaving Alex suddenly feeling much less social. Still his friends wouldn’t leave him alone to wallow about the end of his first real relationship, instead forcing him to go out on a Friday night.
A little too drunk after losing a few drinking games, Alex walked into an alley to make an ill-advised phone call to his former girlfriend. And that was where Alex found himself when the world ended or rather, when the system made it feel like it was ending. It was the stuff of his dreams and Alex would have been ecstatic… if he hadn’t made one fatal mistake. Choosing a tutorial where he is the only participant, and the difficulty is set to insane.

- plapsapaulRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was suprized to see that this story had no other reviews.
So far it's a really good introduction to the world and to the story. The system seems nice and coherent and the characters have some depth to them. I particullarily liked the way one of the protagonist's advantages is the relationship with Anise's family. - MrGrassRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I want to start by saying I very much enjoyed reading it. Every chapter keeps me on the edge of my seat, wanting more.
For that reason I am rating it 5 stars. Though for others that don't enjoy the quirks of the story, it is still an easy 4 or 4.5.
I implore you to give it a read, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do
Quirks:
- There is a theme of hidden OP characters. It is a little cliche of a trope, but it fits thematically, so I will give it a pass.
- In most stories were you might be expecting a info dump via exposition, you get almost nothing. I think the author wants to trickle information in as it is relevant, but it can be a little agrivating. - SpongeBrianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't really know anything about what makes a story good but I really like this one. I feel like the character is relatable. The story reads fluidly and I don't find myself stuck trying to reread segments to understand things. I also like the world building so far! Overall, brings me happiness 😁
- Kekeli AkpabliRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this story.
Personally love the writing style I can literally read 3k words without feeling the time fly. That's how you know the novel is good. The conversation between characters felt natural. Description of the environment and the characters have not been concise and informative.
The story/premise isn't anything new it's a hard level tutorial so far. This isn't a new concept but I'm not trying to disparage the author for this its about the execution that determines if this is a good story and without a doubt this has been executed very well. So far the MC doesn't rely on the system too much especially in recent chapters. The MCs skills are well earned and he uses them pretty well. He's obviously made some mistakes of which there's almost always immediate consequences.
English is my first language and I have no problems with the grammar. It's not too simple or too complicated. It's just right.
I personally love the characters so far especially the MC he feels human, he makes mistakes and learns. He feels emotions and handles them like any well rounded adult should. The looming consequences and implications of the tutorial hang over his head like a spectre, the worry he feels for is family is briefly touched upon(but unconsciously suppressed). I just like him. He's up there with the MC of runebound professor for me. - McBlasterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A good set-up of the system being deployed on earth and it's humans.
People are told to chose which of the tutorial difficulties they would like to participate in then transported. MC somehow ends up choosing a level far above what he intended and now has a mighty uphill battle to come out alive at the end of it.
There is magic, classes, skills and abilities galore. But chasing after gold will get our MC in a lot of trouble.
Who should he trust? Or should he just bluster his way through it all. - felixrr6299Royal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm not a big fan of giving the mc unrealistic goals, almost impossible odds, no overwhelming abilities and unwillingness to do what's necessary to survive. If you enjoy the struggle MC syndrome, this is for you. I don't like spoiling readers so I'm not going into chapter and verse. As I'm writing this review I'm up to chapter 40 and extremely disappointed.
- Mridula RRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I mostly read to relax, feel happy and lose myself in the story. This story though not what I usually read, is interesting as it fits some of the criteria which I usually get attracted to:
Good MC who is not unbearably morally grey (I dont mind "flawed" MC's but i just don't want to think too hard and justify all their actions and feel sad - I just want to feel happy about people trying their best to do the right thing): ✅️ - the MC is not morally grey.
3d characters with good dialogues: this story has a lot of solo leveling so far, so there isn't that much 3d to any of the characters including MC - they're all reacting to circumstances and don't have that much depth and no banter as of now.
Strong female characters who are not just props and body parts: i guess its ✅️ so far.
A story that is going somewhere - not just a "get stronger at all cost and defy the heavens" sort of thing: ✅️ as of now there isn't any overarching plot, but am interested to see what will happen next.
Fast paced with decent twists and not much of overly detailed fights, stats and lengthy internal monologues about agonizing and analysing all the numbers: this story is mostly lengthy and detailed fights which I find myself skimming - but I am sure lots of people will like it.
Interesting world building that leads the imagination on but doesn't leave me with too many questions and confusions: not much of world building yet, but it is fast paced with twists and turns ✅️
Easy to read writing style: this story is a bit raw I guess, needs editing to remove typos and get a better flow to the sentences and convey things easier.
Usually I don't read the "fighting all the time" types of stories but am interested to see how this story develops. Thank you author for your work and best wishes! - ThunderBolt1Royal Road★★★ 2.5This book has no sense of adventure, it's just the mc being led around by random side character # 4355.
And the monologues, this guy is in his head so much and about every little thing ans they are so cyclical that he should have gotten several dozen skills for it.
Mc has no sense of curiosity and he's just bland. He could die and any number of side characters replaced him and that would improve the story. There is no joy or excitement of leveling up and gaining stats and skills, it's just flat nothingness.
The stats in this book are lopsided to the point of overstating plot armour with nothing to back it up with. Reasonable plot armour is fine but this is too much.
I also found myself re-reading several paragraphs in a chapter bbecause of mispelled words, misplaced words and nonsensical sentences.
