Description

My life changed forever the moment I stole a life-saving medicine to cure my mom's otherwise terminal cancer. There was never really a chance that my Mega-Corp employer wouldn't catch me. I was convicted before they even kicked in our door, but my mom was cured. That made it all worth it.

Now, I'm not Zachary, "Zee", Jones anymore, I'm Inmate 81348. My only chance at getting out of jail again is to sign up for the "Inmate Gamer Release Program". OzCo, the Mega-Corp that runs the entire Justice system now, will get to use my brain to mine crypto-currency, Crypts, for my restitution and profits. While they do that, I'll be playing the Game, a fully immersive virtual reality world, jacked into my brain. If I play well, I'll be out in 5-8 years, instead of the 20 I'd have in store by serving "hard time" IRL.

There are many worlds within the Game, almost every bit of intellectual property ever created has been licensed to have representation in the Game. Statistically, I'll probably end up on Gygax because it's the most popular and has the most constant need for new players. It's a Medieval Sword & Sorcery world with Elves and Orcs, Wizards, and Knights. Wish I knew how to use a sword.

Wish me luck.

This story is amazing on several ways that calls to my childhood.  It has a general ‘real world’ setting that calls out to my days playing “Shadowrun” as well as in ‘in game’ that screams D&D so hard the game world is named after the man that helped start it all.
It will be a joy to watch this story unfold both in its world and the world within its game.
    Keep to the shadows chummer.

Nice, but a bit boring, because the protagonist is always just reacting to something or doing what someone tells him.
He is not nice or mad or sad or bad, he is just a lifeless person.
There is practically no interaction with his oh so smart pet which could have saved the story.
Like I said, it is nice, I never could write something like this, but I wanted all the time to read something else.
