Damon is a young farmer in the Bausan Empire. With land, a wife, and kids, he finds that he wants nothing but to grow old and be cared for by his children. Yet on the eve of a new moon, he is visited by a strange being claiming to be a God.

He is told that he is to be the ruler of an Empire yet to be built that spans the continent; and that they will guide him to success. Damon refuses the being claiming that he does not wish to be a ruler but rather to live a peaceful life with his family.

But forces far greater than any man are already in play, and Damon soon finds himself forced upon the path of a ruler. In order to survive Damon must learn to trust the God by his side.
