I wrote this for Royal Road's 5th anniversary contest in October of 2018 (closing on Halloween).  I didn't hear about the contest until a day before it was due, so I wrote this in a bit of a rush.  The rules stipulated "themes of rebirth, celebration or fantasy", and had a limited or 750 words.
