- Maya RobertsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Yandere's Proof is a gripping, dark thriller romance. It's set in the gloomy, criminal underworld and does a fantastic job of contently weaving in layer upon layer of intrigue and mystery.
You're dropped into the mind of the protagonist, Vivian. The author does a truly brilliant job of immersing the reader into her world. You feel her every emotion, you're by her side through it all. Her trauma, her fear, you'll feel it all with very disturbing realism. More than once when reading, I wanted to peek out of my window, just to check that there wasn't a police car there, coming for me.
The characters are fantastically well developed. They're all deep and complex. Noah is dark and complicated, I still haven't worked out how I feel about him yet. Vivian just feels so real, her reactions, how she handles the situations around her are genuine.
The grammar is very good all round. Punctuation and sentence structure is very good.
I’m really enjoying the style of writing. The chapters are short but to the point. They don’t in any way feel rushed and always put across their points with great detail.
There was one thing that I wasn’t all that sure about to start with and that’s the use of very short one line paragraphs. However, I got used to it very quickly and it in no way detracts from the story. In some ways I think that it actually enhances it, really adding to the feel of suspense that is constantly building up.
A really great story which I’d totally recommend. - ZacheasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Yander's proof is about Vivian who's family is mixed up with the criminal underworld and it results in a murder of someone close to her and she finds herself wrapped up in a criminal conspiracy that she can't avoid. Not less because her dark, creepy and suspiciously comfortable Noah, who seems to live a secret life is both her hero and the most dangerous part of the life and death predicament she finds herself in.
The characters in this story are richly developed and well written. This story excels in it's characters as fits it's genre.
The story also manages to maintain tension and danger to keep the reader engaged. The author also makes good use of cliffhanger and Bite size chapters, as it conducive to web novels.
The grammar, spelling and pose are perfect, no issues to fix.
The story is dark with some very graphic violence that may bother some and there is tension around the fear of sexual assault that might trigger some. however the story has the appropriate content warnings and the content I no over the top and it makes sense in context. It is additive to the story and handled well.
Overall this was a great story for it's genre. I definitely recommend it. - Zamora de LeonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Look, I am a fan of the yandere trope. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine, and for anyone who's in the same boat as me, you need to read this story. It is the best portrayal of a yandere I've come across in this format. I am EATING this story up.
Style: The chapters are short but effective. I have no idea how she did it, but the author manages to set up a great atmosphere very concisely--I can picture the scene, smell it, even--and then get right into the character interactions and emotions, which is where a yandere story shines. The story focuses on the good stuff without shrugging its shoulders at the essential stuff, making it a genuinely wonderful reading experience.
Story: Brutal and traumatizing so far, just like I like my yandere stories. And it's definitely just getting started. It feels like the shit is about to hit the fan constantly when you're reading this, making for a tense and suspenseful read.
Grammar: No complaints. Great word variety, sentence structure, and prose.
Character: Like all unhinged yandere fans will be, I am obsessed with Noah and hanging on his every move. If he tells me to jump, I'll jump. Every character introduced so far has been distinct and memorable. Vivian, our main girl, is very well written and what I particularly love is the exploration and focus on her emotions as the events of the story unfolds. She reacts REALISTICALLY to what is happening. And that is what makes this yandere story stand out from the others.
I really like this story. And for those who like romance with dark themes, I think they should give this a read. Please fangirl over Noah with me! - SheaveRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A mysterious disappearance very early on in the book is something that is later revealed to not be an isolated event but part of some grander conspiracy. Makes you want to read on.
I like that the main character has yandere elements but not obnoxiously so. She is a nice enough girl but in a believable kind of way. Clearly, if she follows the archetype she will turn darker at some point. Perhaps broken in some way, since there is a sinister element to this world for all its glamor. Obsession with status, shallow beauty, finance, and competition very much underlies it.
As a romance reader, the potential romance I think I am spotting has promise however I am only three chapters in.
The love interest may change or we may end up having multiple love interests. That could work too. There is an effort here to make sure the relationships of characters like our Protagonist, Serena, and Noah seem organic and to show their affection for one another is genuine. I would imagine a lot of other girls reading this will very much enjoy a female main character. The heroine is intelligent but also down-to-earth and not overpowered.
The males around her are also interesting and clever so it doesn't play into that men vs women stereotype you sometimes see.
We know little about the backstory of the heroine early on. Clearly by design. There is a hint later of some traumatic past that has been repressed. It will be interesting to see what the author does with this and how they weave it into the story. As a diverse reader, I am very glad to see different kinds of stories appearing on Royal Road. Though its LitRPG is a lot of fun.
