- Bruce cRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Kind of similar to Singer Sailor Merchant Mage, the MC is reincarnated as a child with a scientific drive to understand the underlying mechanics of his new world. He is also fairly introverted with only one sometimes friend. He actually applies his methodology continuously and achieves decent success.
A few concerns such as an unexplainable drive to get stronger and to learn a wide range of things. There is no trauma orapproaching disaster (that we know) that requires such excessive dedication.
Also, he hides his growth despite having a mother who is literally a magic researcher with access to a higher learning facility and a father who is the highest level? in town.

Books 2-4 show expected (and exceeded) growth as a trader/businessman, warrior, mage, and most importantly person as he transforms each area he touches. A well thought out progression of each phase. - Continuity ManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The power creep is always a wrinkle for progression stories but I think the author did a good job of keeping the MC modest will simultaneously giving him the edge he should have.
My only complaint was the abrupt ending, it felt like it was leading into a sequel that never came.
Well written, with a hyper focus on the MC and not as much the supporting cast. The taming aspect was very enjoyable as well.
Its worth a read - SoulFireMageRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Another slice of life style tale with low to moderate stakes I've enjoyed.
The story only makes one major fumble, in book four but it doesn't detract from the heart of the story enough to downgrade however.
He buggers up the romance aspect by making it too quick and shallow to fit the story. IMHO. But as this comes late it doesn't matter a lot. - unclemonkeyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the overall story and pacing and man if the character growth isn’t fun and some nice unexpected plot twists…. Overall it’s a well built world and some great story to go with it
the chapters are well paced and a nice length and as with all cliff hangers that are well placed keeping you coming back for more.. - Halowolf2009Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5The books are all really great it gets a bit slow later on and it starts to feel like there’s no challenges for Philus
after the war it starts to feel like just a kingdom builder or slice of life and there wasn’t much action after book 2 I don’t know if that was intentional or not
but all and all the first two books had me super engaged and I found myself having a engaged read even when the action was lacking the taming was super well done - TinyBookDragonRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story is entertaining enough but it falls into the trope of making the natives unintelligent so that the MC can seem smart by comparison. Somehow he's the only one who's figured out the true depth of taming beasts? Somehow no one in the world has dropped a beast crystal in a mana potion to see what happens. He discovers an entirely new branch of magic too. Just nonsense.
- oxygen5011Royal Road★★★ 3.0As the chapters go on, you can't help feeling frustrated. It doesn't build anything that makes you expect more and wait for it. More than 40 chapters but the first and last chapters are almost same.
Fights were bland, unable to make me feel excited or perceive mc's struggles. Narrative wasn't bad nor good but the story is overall disappointing and generic. I see no reason to give that much time to see the end. - RascozillaRoyal Road★★★ 3.0If you enjoy isekai/reincarnated in a baby vibes, with interesting magically contracted pets, and a MC who is exploring a magic system, then this may be for you!
As of Book II, chapter 32.
Good:
Good grammar, thought out and interesting magic system, fun magical animals as pets!
okay: typical reincarnated adult in a kid vibes. "level up" grind, some character development for MC. World building is okay, I appreciate work put in to develop the politics/economics and ecosystems/environment.
Needs improvement: Most of the other characters have some hints for development but feel impermanent and flat. As of Chapter 32, no character appears to last longer than a few chapters. The most interesting relationships are his pets, who can't say no to him? Also, still confused why kids are treated like cats.
Breaks the illusion: Age and discrepancy with life experience and life goals. In general i feel overly young MC (baby MCs) are tough to do well and often just hold back the story. I find that true in this story. Also, this MC has major loner vibes, so why would they care about things and people that don't directly affect them? - fortune_victimRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The first book was generally good. Character development was good, but as noted in the chapter comments, the inability to convert "action opportunity" into "skill" without skill points is a bit lackluster. It's also odd that the author never showed what happens at skill level +++. Simply add a time skip before the journey to the desert.
I'll say upfront that the discussion of magic is generally well-written and well-written. The nature of magic itself is also presented interestingly. However, there was no structured explanation for the circles.
Everything that happens next is just a mess. The main character does good because he's good—nothing more, nothing less. The attempt to describe the emotional experience of killing people was good, but the idea of layering thoughts didn't pay off.
The main character's motivation is sound—he wants to explore the world. But then there's an abrupt "break" when he builds a farm. Why?
Another question: why make the character immune to his parents and then reunite them on a happy note? Why was it repeatedly stated that he has no attachment to them?
A big plus of the story is that it's short. There are practically no unnecessary inserts that you just want to skip.
As other reviews have written, I finished it because there wasn't much left.
P.S. CO2 emission? seriously? Without. a. single. factory. Dude stop sipping your soy lavender frappe latte, your straw pollute the environment - TheManWhoSoldTheWorldRoyal Road★★ 2.0For book 1 and most of book 2 it was of serviceable quality, however there was a dramatic drop in quality near the end of book 2 where the MC joins a large conflict out of nowhere just because he saw something bad happen with almost zero build up or really any critical thought of the consquences of his actions. I could have forgiven it if the author was going the angle of exploring the MC's emotional decision making as a vector for deeper character development/introspection but nope he just gets rewarded for his dumb choices. Maybe the upcoming book 3 will tackle this but I remain skeptical.
